The Oscar night was held on 10 February 2020 and the winners are:
- Renée Zellweger, Best Actress as Judy in Judy Garland
- Joaquin Phoenix, Best Actor in Joker
- Parasite, Best picture/Best Movie What interesting was that Parasite the South Korean movie won the Oscar, the first ever film not in the English language to take the top prize in the ceremony’s 92-year history. The winning of the Parasite also proved that not only can an international film win, but a movie that isn’t in a European language can do it too.

The Oscars? I hate the Oscars! 👿

LOLOL! Such a funny commercial!
I didn’t see Parasite, but I was hoping 1917 might win on a category other than cinematography. It was a fantastic film for so much more than just that.
And I seem to be one of the few who wasn’t huge on Joker or Joaquin Phoenix’s performance. It was good, but didn’t amaze me.
If only they would do this now.

I think LaLaLand holds the record for the shortest time as Best Picture. About 30 seconds l think before they decided they’d made a mistake and awarded it to another one?
Why, oh why doesn’t this Oscar have a thread…

I don’t want to pour cold water on something that could be fun. But even my wife narrating for me couldn’t make me like The Oscar’s As I got older, I’ve gotten cynical about the concept of celebrity.
My ideas of celebrities are great cooks, chefs, activists, scientists, teachers, clergy, and soldiers…even business and even political personnel that can stay neutral and helpful. I like my arts and entertainment to be about that only. And I get that artists vary in terms of character.
I’ve got to get back to art and entertainment. I’ve become too cold, not frequenting these events. I envy those who have the time to attend…or should I say, the values and persistence. It’s something I should do too.
I read the title so quick I mistakenly saw Nascar. Haha
I’ve got to be pretty bored to watch the Oscars or Nascar.
Hello 🙂
LOL! It’s like golf, baseball, or bowling on TV for me.

Oscar Wilde was robbed of the award for “Best Man-Man”. Needless to say, he took it well… 😜

“Lawrence won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook (2012).”
My favorite. A true Southern Smartass of the first water. She played herself in Winter’s Bone. It has been said that she has spooked her fellow actors with her ability to snap in and out of character in an instant. I think she embodies W,C, Field’s observation that “…If you have seen a great actress, you have seen the devil”.

“The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow became the first women to win a Best Director Oscar when she won the Academy Award 2010. Kathryn is also holding a Best Picture Oscar in the photograph above. It has taken an extraordinarily long time for a woman to win on Oscar in the Best Picture category.”
But l think the fault is more on the ground than in the awards. What I mean is that few films have actually been directed by women over the years, and those that have were not considered major, or women wouldn’t have been “allowed” to direct them, so its not really surprising it took so long.
She rocks.

“Joaquin Phoenix is the Oscars 2020 winner for Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as Arthur Fleck in JOKER! Congratulations to Joaquin Phoenix on his first Oscar win. This is his third time being nominated in this category. His past nominations include leading roles in WALK THE LINE, THE MASTER and GLADIATOR.”

I saw Joker and Phoenix’s performance was amazing. He really captured what it is like to be a mentally ill loner who goes off the deep end.
I cannot comment on other winners because I haven’t seen those films.

Hi Murn, … Thanks for the invite. I don’t know much abut the Oscars, but today is a big day in Nascar. Daytona 500. I misread your title and thought I saw that word. Hahaha
Our POTUS (Trump) is the Grand Mashal today. I bet one day he’ll win an Oscar. 😉
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend. 🙂
Hi …Murn.
