While we are not promoting alcohol abuse, I think nearly every adult I’ve ever known has imbibed at least once (spare those who have a religious prohibition).
Do you have funny drunk stories?
Please post them without swearing.

I lost my underwear on the dance floor once. I was at Hedgens in Atlanta dancing while the Georgia Satelittes played. I never bought underwear so the waist would get all stretched out and loose. I had on a skirt to my ankles and cowboy boots. I was dancing my azz off and felt my underwear drop to my ankles. I just stepped out of one leg hole and did some kind of Elaine kick and off flew my underwear into the crowd. I went commando the fo the rest of the night.
LOLOL!!! Did you ever get your undies back?
Nope…never did. Often wondered what the guys who cleaned up the bar thought when they found them.
Hahaha!!!
Disgusting.
LOL
Now I’m in luv… LOL !
Heehee. Surely im not the only girl you know who danced herself out of her underwear while the Georgia Satelittes played.
Well …. yes….. but never in Georgia. And to be honest they helped the process along with their thumbs.. !!! … 😉
I have a ton of stories but I might have to “plead the Fifth.”
Same here! I’ve only scratched the surface by volunteering a couple tales of my own.
I’ve got lots of drunk and stoned stories. My best friend and I had dates with roommates. We were going to cook them spaghetti. That afternoon we went to a brownie party in the dorm. We ate a brownie and waited. We agreed we didn’t feel anything so we ate another and another. We were so stoned by the time we arrived to cook dinner for our dates we couldn’t speak. We cooked dinner, ate, cleaned up and left…all without uttering a single word. As you might expect…they never asked us out again.
Darn. The title of this article somehow brought back flash memories of Duck Tales which I used to watch on vhs as a kid.

I’m not a nice drunk. Buzzed, I’m lovelier but by the time I’m buzzed, I’m well on my way to being drunk. That’s why I just smoke weed. Drunk, the filters come clean off.
I don’t remember
That is always the correct response, whether true or not.
Just curious if you asked to be removed from the channel’s invite list. I’ve noticed it’s slimmed down quite a bit.
Thanks for asking; no, I did not. I like this channel.
I do, too. I’m just curious how so many people dropped off the invite list. It’s down to about 15 from what I’ve gathered.
Really?!
Though I visit other channels more often, I hold this one in high esteem.
It seems it’s become more tailored to personal preference. A few others I’ve asked could very well have provoked someone’s ire but then I see you were left off and thought who could you have possibly offended? 😂😂 It’s going to be interesting to see how it unfolds.
I’ve never get drunk…lol:))).
I’ve had funny drunk stories about other people: My first love liked to shout at others or even climbed a tree when he got super drunk. One of my high school peers liked to share all the intimate details of her past dating experiences when she got drunk…One time she even over-shared her dating life with her parents…
Oh, does the latter sound awkward. LOLOL!
Haha yes!
Drunk stories? How about the last time I drank, which was Valentine’s weekend 1992? A girl I had been dating had just dumped me, I’d gotten laid off from my job, and somebody had broken into my truck and stolen my very expensive land surveying calculator. I found myself retching after every swallow of beer, and later getting very sick. Valentine’s day that year was on a Friday. By Sunday, I never wanted to see another beer again.
Other than my calculator being stolen, this was actually one of the best days I’ve ever had. The last I heard, that girl had been divorced twice, I wound up with a better job, and I feel much better without the alcohol.
Was in Tampa, FL drinking ALL night before my flight home, Alabama Slammers… Barely made it on the plane cause I could barely walk… Somewhere over America my buddy said I sat up, looked around, and spewed bright red vomit all over the seat in front, the isle, my legs and feet….
The flight attendant runs over with a barf bag (with my friend explaining “he really doesn’t like to fly”) I proceeded to fill it to the top, then dropped it in the isle and passed out…..
When I woke up all the passengers had been moved to the front f the plane, complaining about the horrible smell and possibility of hemorrhagic fever I suppose….
Not my finest hour, thanks goodness for memory lapses….
Alabama slammers ughhh !! You learned !

haha damn, it’s been a while. First time I drunk was at a Christmas party, probably 3 years ago I think lol. I drank hard at that party. My co-workers literally were just pouring all kinds of drinks in my cup, vodka, fireball, wine and others. Before I knew I was drunk, and then I woke up in my bed the next day… in my towel… Must’ve tried to take a shower but clearly I didn’t get to that point lmao. crazy experience for me.
New years 2000…. I was a kid…. my mom went out to celebrate… I was upset so I grabbed a 6pack out the fridge (Savanna) and I drank it…… I ended up crying and ordered my older bro to get a bunny out the yard (we had a ton of bunnies) I recall laying on the couch crying snuggling my bunny till I passed out …..
I was 12 years old 1st time drinking
🐇🐰 💞 bunnies ! I had a petter cottontail years ago . Boing !

How’s it going today, my fellow mod?
Hello. Doing alright.
The first time I got drunk to the point of being embarrassed was at my uncle’s funeral.
I was 20 and my cousins started serving up 7&7s … before we ate. I was drunk and dragged myself to the bathroom and didn’t come out, until I heard my aunt say, “You don’t like me very much, do you?”
I felt terrible. I like 7&7s, but I don’t drink much to speak of any more. It would have been easy to become an alcoholic and I’m glad I avoided that.
I’m so glad to see you!
Funerals and alcohol seem to go together like peas and carrots. I’m glad you didn’t upchuck all over anyone. Sorry about your uncle.
I gotta step away for a bit but wanted to check in first. Murn is going to give you my email address in case you need anything. 😀
Seven 7’s ! Old School ! Falls into the Tom Collins , Apricot stone sours era -glug glug ! What the heck was mixed with sloe Gin ?
Hand on heart, always been T-Total
Hello. I don’t know if we’ve met, but I’ve seen you and always appreciated it. You write wonderful poems and it’s like some can feel your heart beat. I would love to create some poem threads here and have you contribute. Would you be interested in that, every now and again?
Cross your heart on the T-Total?
Lots of reason when young why never touched alcohol and it just became what I did when slightly older (only 28, well 29 in March).
Well, my poems tend not to be modern. I use a lot of classical references, so get the feeling they may not be to people’s flavour. Also my time zone means I’m not about when 95% of others posters are active. I do not want to contribute if I am just in a minority as folk rightly would and probably have got sick and tired of me spouting on.
Thanks for your kind words. So if you make threads and it becomes many others contributing then I might look in. Life, especially recent life, has taught me to stand aside and just smile.
Thanks again. Love your Burke quote. It is one I often use in the real world.
Sorry this is a ‘on the one hand, this; on the other hand, that’. Suppose now in life I tend to be a quiet and reticent person.
love, cysgod
Morning Cysgod
Hi there. Just recovering from yesterday. Had a long power cut. Hope you are well? Now got to finish all the work I left over from Tuesday.
Hey Cysgod 😀 hahahha you’re so friendly and sweet to talk to 😛 thank you ……. I’m doing well thanks … I felt really sick this morning …. tried keeping myself from getting sick but I couldnt manage….. feel better now though … we get set power cuts in SA …. I like it actually…. really gives me time to myself
Never quite sure what to call you. Could call you a Belgium dog breed. But not very cuddly? How about, roho tamu? Don’t get sick, please. Time to think and be yourself is good. Now my work awaits. Have three books to edit by Friday.
3 books? damn are you an editor? … thats so cool…. Just call me Josh…. if you like or Mali…. lol most people just call me Mali….. Belgium Malinois are the cuddliest babies ever 😀 Omgosh
I like Josh.
So see you again, Josh
See, it’s a friendly name. Lovely sound
Back later today
Hahahha Omgosh no comment 😀 thank you see you later be safe have a wonderful day
…and you
Don’t feel like just because some folks don’t get you that you are not appreciated. We love having you around. 😀
Whatever would I have done without your underwear poem!?!
Thanks for making me smile this morning
😁
My pleasure.
My comments are going to pending? It must be Comm who’s doing it!
I am sorry to report your trusted user status was pulled in the midst of all the arguing. IDK if you remember me telling you that the other day.
She and I will release your posts upon approval. I’ll go check and see if you’ve been trapped by the filter again.
I think I’m good to go at Neutral, but I chose to stay away for now! I never speak a damn good word about the state of Florida, right? A highway in Florida won’t be keeping its name much longer after a county voted to change the name of a handful of Dixie highways to ‘Harriet Tubman Highway’!! Finally, some damn good news comes out of Florida! We should be naming the new roads here in America after heroic and admired people! This is something I couldn’t say on Neutral! Incase some fetid red hats got upset about it! Anyway, are you up to some food today?
I, too, am glad Harriet Tubman will be honored instead of others who don’t deserve it. However, we are on MNC.
I am heating a frozen “Aussie Pie” again. I got sick late last night and it massively screwed me up today. I slept the whole day away and now haz headache from not eating again. I cannot get in to see the gastroenterologist soon enough, man.
Sorry, forgot we was on Neutral! You need some of my Jumbo Shrimp Marinara over linguini and Baked Stuffed Seafood casserole (lobster, scallops, shrimp, haddock), perfect brotha!
OMG! I’d go crazy. I love seafood! Seriously. There probably isn’t a creature of the sea I will not eat, spare maybe raw oysters. I used to eat them, but my palate changed. Otherwise, bring it on, homie!
I never told you, I have this thing for lobster mac ‘n cheese a nice supermarket near me makes. You just put it in the oven for 20 minutes and it’s ready to eat. It won’t be as good as freshly made at home, but for a bachelor who doesn’t know squat about cooking it is addictive.
Charlie is elderly, our neighbor, Mr. Johnson, I’ve often cooked up some macaroni and cheese for him, he loves fish sticks too, so we organize him a fill of it for a few days! Separate some into tupperwares, other times he got fam staying so he’s good! Nothing betters home-cooking, but if one is not assured around cooking, you can’t expect ’em to go deep attempting meals from scratch, I’m almost craving to cook ya a meal at this stage!
That you do that for your elderly neighbor is beyond commendable. Deep down, you are a much kinder person that you get credit for.
If I lived up there, we’d be kicking it frequently and I’d gladly supply fresh seafood, help out in the kitchen, and do all the dishes.
I am, a much kinder person than the passel might give me props for!! Then again, it takes going thru the layers to see it all! Most folks I’ve interacted with on Disqus, which hail from Chicago have been pretty cool! The standouts being You and Lilymason! We’re tight!
Thanks, man. Chicagoans, by and large, are urbanites but have this odd blend of both city and midwestern culture. I think that is a good thing.
Lily and I really like you. Stick around, broham. 🙂
BTW, passel is such a great word. Nice vocabulary.
@disqus_nnidUtWZ0o:disqus!
No downvoting on our channel, please.
Thank you! This guy, needs to stay away from me! He’s clearly stalking, I mean, he’s downvoting all my comments at Covert, he’s downvoting all my comments in here! I don’t even reply to the individual, he’s blocked! Sorry, but, I had no choice!
Please don’t bring Covert business here.
Hello. I banned one that was downvoting joe because they hadn’t posted in here.
They’ve been since released to continue if they wish.
You feeling better?
Foggy headed but I think I might be okay. I may still be dehydrated.
I like taking it in this (off topic) direction now, but still feel somewhat guilty. Haha I finally broke down and purchased a product called Grown American. It’s a multi-fruit and veggie mix and it’s great once you get used to it. One little scoop for 10 oz water. I’m no longer dehydrated and I’m getting all my required amount of vitamins, fruits and veggies. It slows down my wanting to eat the delicious bad for me stuff, that I love. 😉
Lately I’ve been saying I’d be happy to take a pill for dinner, but this is better. This and a bit of Atkins could really benefit me and my lazy eating habits.
I hope that goes well for you.
If I make my homemade chicken broth right, it has some lasting in it, one can use it for soups, my sauce in place of water, mashed potatoes, and so much more! I use chicken thighs with skin to mix it! I then remove the skin and I got the dog’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a week! I’d mix the cut up chicken thighs with her dogfood, she laps it up! You need a massive pot, get some days out of it! You can add your greens, soup can give a lift, and there’s some over for the dog! Every now and then, get some soup going, I swear by it brotha!
Such a lucky dog. You pamper your fur baby. Yay!
What’s puppy’s name ? Do u have more ?
I only have one dog right now, my good friend! I’ve had a lot of monster dogs too but right now we only got Angie! She’s a lot different than my previous dogs, so sweet, and agile! We don’t think the time is there for more dogs, at least with one you can devote time to he/she… bring her on early walks, I’d throw a frisbee into high winds that took it 20-30 yards to the left and Angie would turn on a dime and still catch it! She is a whippet…half Jack Russell and half greyhound! She’s great!
Wow, this went to pending and the restricted word is your … he / she. Hahaha, that is funny.
I’d never seen such a strict word filter. What time is the fight?
I expect the fight to go down maybe at, 10:30 PT! It will be 1:30 here ET! Depending on state really! Crackstreams.com, you’ll get a link there Comm! Or, if you have no interest, you could make the day of another telling ’em how to catch it if they’ve not subscribed to ppv!
I’ll have to leave that up to @disqus_ZHnAbibTCy:disqus because I haven’t managed to Published one thing here yet and I’ve tried. @murni:disqus’s blog is a bit different than others. I see the same thing all members do when creating, when I should be seeing more as a Mod. Mods should be able to click Publish themselves. It took me a bit to catch on in other places too. Dang my luck with disqus.
This isn’t going to work if only Murn can publish them. Oh wait, No-Name must be too? Ooooh, I want that link, while it’s still useful to me. Hint hint. 😉
PS, you better check the time on that schedule again. It would suck if you missed it. 😮
Nothing has started yet! I’ve subscribed, doesn’t get underway on TV for a couple of hrs! I’m not a dumb ass! It starts in some hrs! No-Name? He’s very easy going, are you unhappy in your mod position there? You feel you’re not granted the latitude you would usually expect? I really know nothing about the mod situation!
I’m actually on Neutral now, it keeps slipping my mind!
Some of my comments are pending now! Comm, the boxing doesn’t get underway for some hrs on TV! I’m subscribed, I’ll miss nothing! It’s bizarre you think I could miss this fight! That’s straight crazy! I never miss a fight!
Sadly, I don’t have an answer for that. Also, you don’t have permission to publish but supposedly I do. However, I cannot make it work even via myneutralchannel.com.
I apologize profusely that very important fact slipped my mind. I’m not trying to purposefully drive you crazy. I promise. I’ve just got too much going on.
7:00 pm ET, everything underway!
You need to login into the site using the password given via email to you by WordPress. You’ve been added as editor to MNC site but I haven’t got notification of you ever use it yet. Use that password and login from there then you will see everything including the ‘publish’ button.
As per email, that every time you want to go into the dashboard, you need to login first, without login into it you wouldn’t see anything.
I hope you’re well Murn! Miss you on the threads. 🙏💚
Bless her heart ! 🐕
See, what I’m doing is living good! Folks that know nothing about me talk about me lots! I get a dividends check from some stocks in bottled water, while they go hungry perhaps! We was always involved with water! My uncle Roger, back 23 years ago bought thousands of shares in bottled water, in producers, distributors, and bottlers of bottled water! He taught me all about it, he’d seen all the construction workers gradually make the switch from soda to water in order to stay hydrated! He watched dozens of 5 gallon bottles of spring water being delivered in the project manager’s trailers on a weekly basis! Supermarkets creating space and isles for water only! Today the average citizen here in America consumes 52 gallons of bottled water a year! A decade ago when I was put on to this the average citizen drank 6 gallons of bottled water a year! Anybody talking about my credit score need to show their own, talking about me inaccurately don’t make a dent in my rock! A business involving water has very lil overhead and no spoilage at all! I’ve mentioned this before, what a thread to talk water on instead of alcohol? Fix me some Dusse, cause I don’t get drunk a lot, unless ya pouring that dark Dusse, mix it with pineapple juice, coconut water, and almond milk!
Bottled water is a very wise investment.
While I get that dark Dusse for you, I’ll prep some Chinese food for ya. LOL!
BW, smart investment indeed! I was never gonna invest $15,000 in damn Coca-Cola, or soft drinks or liquor! My fam wanted me to have a reliable income, I donate most of the yearly residual check also! Comfort is all I wanted, just enough to live comfortably! And we do! Why you think I got time to talk, we’ve made good decisions! I’m not gonna reveal every detail about my life, but at least I reveal lots about myself in comparison to other’s! As do you, there’s a sincerity about us! Don’t forget the dash of almond milk, there’ll be trouble!
I can buy almonds and make some better than what’s in stores. Cool?
I’m off to watch Wilder v Fury I and then, with some luck, maybe I can sleep. IDK. We’ll see.
Have a good evening, my friend.
We’ll catch up tomorrow! Just tag me evening time! Later now!
Hello. NN, Joe was added back to TU list nearly 20hrs ago. Yeah, I pulled him ‘for a bit’ because he wanted to argue and lie about his downvoting others after he was asked to stop.
Hope you’re feeling better.
Thanks, CommUnique. Sorry I needed so much time away.
I was pleased to see you took a rest. You never need apologize to me for not being out here full time.
Have a good evening. 🙂
Thanks. Are you going to be now?
You are back as a trusted user.
I appreciate that! I’m in a better position overall somewhat, in comparison to two weeks ago! It just serves to show, my thread which reached over 900 plus comments brought about some good!
Listening & Learning & Sharing is part of the drill here. You’re amongst good people …
I have more embarrassing drunk stories than any woman is willing to relate.

Hi Sophia.
Happy Tuesday!
Here near shortly. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv1QjZzaRlg
Wow, that’s Metallica? That’s a side of Metallica that I’ve never heard before. This sounds like a country western song…
Countrallica
I have too many drinking tales to count. I started out with mixed drinks. Then beer. Finally settled to wine, occasional beer, ever rare single malt.
But I’m like George Thorogood. I’m at my best when…I DRINK ALONE!!!
😘
When I watch my favorite sport. My scratch made snacks. My late harvest cabernet. I’m in the zone. Don’t bother me.
I can relate, don’t bother my comfort zone !
Sorry if l’m dumbing down, but what l hate is l have a few pints (only occasionally because l’m usually driving) and l feel OK, no need to visit the toilet.
Then suddenly l need to go and it’s again and again until l think l may as well spend the night on there.
As l said sorry for dumbing down the subject.
We call that ‘breaking the seal’, and I for one know that problem too well.
Yes, and once broken a trip to the toilet every five minutes becomes mandatory.
Sorry for long delay in replying. Yeah it would be nice if my “seal” could be operated manually!
What I am about to recount happened over 40 years ago. I was still in my 20’s and had just a few years before started my first job. We had a kid work with us for the summer and then he was off to school again. Anyway he was a very well liked kid and a group of us decided to take him to a local bar to wish him well in school and at the same time have a reason to imbibe.🍸
Long story short my friends knew I was a light weight as far as drinking went. While I was out of the room each of them bought me a Rum & coke and lined them up behind the one I was already drinking. All in all I had about 6 drinks. I was foolish enough to drink all of them so as to not offend anyone and promptly went to sleep.😞
At about 1 in the morning one of my friends woke me up and told me that my mother was on the phone. I had told her where I was going to be as I was going to be late prior to leaving to work. In short order my father came on the phone and I apologized for what had happened and told him I was coming home right away. He sternly told me to stay where I was and he would come down to pick me up. Needless to say I got a tongue lashing for my stupidity when my dad picked me up and all the way home.😡
I haven’t had a drop of liquor since. I am in my 60’s today. https://media1.giphy.com/media/LYDNZAzOqrez6/giphy.gif
LOL!
I got so wasted with friends on a night my parents expected me home, I passed out after losing my cookies in a childhood friend’s bathroom. My folks knew who I was with. So, the next morning my mother calls over there and gives me the third degree about not coming home and not calling. My response was pretty awful, “Mom, I was too drunk to use a phone.”
That didn’t go over well.
hahah whats your favorite booze ? i started drinking when i was 15 i drank bud LIGHT back then one time i sent my parents to get me beer they went thru a drive thru dad said the employee there barely knew english anyways my dad came back with 2 32oz bottles i requested i looked in the bag and i was like “aww FUDGE the gave me BUDWEIsER and NOT budLIGHT ! i was like ” screw it i’ll drink it anyway”
so i was drinking it and i was like ” daamn this stuff really has a kick to it im a helluva lot more drunk now than waht the bud light got me drunk from ! ”
ahaha ever since then i switched to budweizer since it has one helluva kick to it ! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c63f75ae43efa42ee603b3a54d10e313d5b9670ed21621509c0e62b029f4425b.jpg
When you say Bud
You say you only know enough
To drink the worst of beers
No way , bud light for me.
You’re dad bought beer for you ? My step dad didn’t care we went to after ball game parties, graduation parties back then when legal age was 19. Even in HS my older step brother looked out for my step sister & I .
haha ya he my parents were ok with me drinking if i drank here at home . all my maternal uncles are drunken alcoholics theres numerous mugshot photos of them for Public intoxication 1 of 2 aunts of mine drinks alot alot too
luckily i never got into drugs except i smoked cannabis regularly for 5 years
Thanks for the invite to a potentially hilarious thread, but alas…I must refrain from talking about it
I don’t drink and tell.
I only drink water and extracted juices from fruits. I think I once almost got drunk from drinking 8 glasses of milkshake in a row.
I did the same thing …. But I ended up vomiting that Liquid cancer all over and I havent drunk milk since
I guess you arent used to drinking much. I got used to it and I can drink a lot without feeling sick but yeah, I feel kinda dizzy sometimes but its not that bad
Just milk makes me sick….. water im cool with

Help!!! LOL!
Hi, Jae! Hi, George!
Thanks for the participation! I am sorry I was away so I could eat. 😀
Hey there No-Name…ho are you?
Always my pleasure. 😇
I’m great now that I’ve finally eaten. 😀
Full, and energized.
Something like that. LOL!
I dance like Beyoncé when I’m drunk…lol…at least that’s what I think…lol

Oops! LOL!
Oh yes I had a drunken tale. I was at a party, I had drank so much and drove home. I knew my street but couldn’t remember my house. I drove up and down my block, I thought, for over 30 minutes, fell asleep at the stop sign at the corner. Then realized I was on the wrong block. It was dangerous but at that age you think indestructible. Now I look back and am thankful every day that I did something stupid…lol
Edited…to add my gif…lol

Hello, lovely peeps. Have you ever experienced alcohol fueled hilarity?
R&I to be sent shortly, I hope. I am not very good at that just yet.
I have never been drunk but I have tasted beer and champagne…and with the same reaction!
When working at a hospital, one medical student asked if I would like to get a bite to eat after work and I was agreeable. He took me to a place called Mother Mary’s, which was an omen for what followed! We placed our order and he offered me a glass of beer. Never having tasted beer I thought this was the perfect moment to give it a try.
The smell drifting from the glass to my nose brought a disgusting memory with it. You see, my father was a cattleman and had a large holding of silage packed into the side of a hill on one of his farms. During the winter my father would take us three girls out to the farm where the silage was ready and waiting for his Black Angus.
It was a very unfortunate thing that my father had daughters instead of a son or two to help on the farms! In the blistering cold of winter, father had us girls take wheelbarrows into the silage holding and he would use a shovel to fill the wheelbarrows with packed silage, then we three girls would turn and walk out, as quickly as we could push the heavy wheelbarrows, of the horrid smelling place! Each time in and out the disgusting odor grew worse and worse until I very nearly threw-up!
My father would follow us as we took our wheelbarrow outside the holding to huge troughs where the cattle were waiting with all the patience of … drunks at a bar. You see, silage is cattle beer! Usually, before too long, my sisters would begin to cry and my father would send them off to wait in the barn until the cattle were fed. I stuck it out but I hated every minute of it!
So now I found myself seated next to a guy at Mother Mary’s with a tall glass of beer merely inches from me. Ever so slowly I lifted the glass and brought it to my lips…but the smell! My date asked if there was a problem with the beer and like a trooper I said, “No” and took a sip that rocked my stomach like a high-speed roller coaster! It tasted like silage smells and suddenly I was one terribly nauseous young woman! lol…..
At this moment I have no memory as to the explanation I gave for my sudden sickness. I just remember desperately needing fresh air and wondering why in the world humans like to drink cattle beer!
I’m so Confused 😀
Not supposed to use a shovel for silage. A six tine silage fork is the tool of choice. Ask me how I know. We kept our silage in an old brick silo. Haylage works every bit as well as silage, and the odor is a tad more pleasant … clover/alfalfa mix.
Well…maybe father was using a pitchfork of some sort to jab that horrid mix of cattle beer from its packed place, but he did shovel it into the troughs. Being a young girl, who was desperately hopeful that he would hurry so that I could get out of that silage tunnel and breath fresh air, I may not have been paying attention to the particulars. 😉
About the time I was in high school, he stopped feeding silage to the cattle. Are you a farm boy? 🙂 My father used Hereford bulls with his Black Angus and it was a beautiful combination.
One good thing from the time spent doing my best to help father feed the cattle silage; there is no chance whatsoever of me ever becoming an alcoholic! lol….
The son my father needed. 😉

That’s so adorable 😀
Glad you like the picture! 🙂
Very cute picture and very sweet story thanks for sharing 🙂 I was confused not knowing what silage was but I know now 😀
When I read your reply about being confused, I imagined you were unfamiliar with silage. It possibly rates with the smelliest things on earth…possibly. 🙂 And I am very pleased you enjoyed my story. 🙂
Hahaha ya your story was very sweet damn 😀 ….. hahhaha ya unfamiliar with that stuff 😀 havent even really seen it but im sure we use it here ……. thanks again 😀
Farm boy from Iowa. Your father ran a stocker operation. A Hereford and Black Angus yields, what used to be (perhaps still is) referred to as “Black White Face”. Very good rate of gain and some of the best meat, if fed out properly, that can be produced. Did you run ’em up to feeder weight and then sell them for finishing? Or, did he go all the way. From bred cows to slaughter ready steers and heifers?
Today, too many operations use larger breeds, such as Charolais and Brahma mixes (Brangus). Leaner but much stringier meat without nearly the marbling.
Actually, I had nothing against the smell of silage. Compare that to the winter melt-off cleaning of the lot …. Now, that’s a smell I could have done without.
LOL… Yes, ‘barnyard bliss’, as I call it, has no comparison on earth.
Iowa, that is great farmland and a good place to live. Kansas is my stomping ground. 🙂
Father’s cattle were handsome, the white face with and the pretty black and white coat, a few of the baby cows were red with white faces. He sold the bulls. I am not certain what my father did in regards to the end product or the operations at the farms, all I remember is hearing him discuss with mother when he took them to the sale barn. But I do remember the fabulous meat we always had in the freezer!
Actually our family did not live on the farms, my mother insisted on living in the city until they retired from their careers. At that point they built a beautiful house on one of the farms.
However, my parents had two humongous veggie gardens, one at the farm where they eventually built their house, and another on the 5 acres where we lived in the city. In the summers we girls worked in the gardens and enjoyed the produce all year long. Yummm!
My father sold his entire herd a couple years ago. Oh how he has missed his cattle! He rented his pasture out to another cattleman, but after a couple years of that, he has decided against renewing the agreement.
Nice chatting with you. 🙂
If you thought that the odor emanating from a cattle feedlot was bad, when time to clean, you should have smelled the hog houses. That was well before the days of confinement facilities, slats, and sewage treatment lagoons. That was when the spring thaw hit, waddling through the stuff, runny up to your knees (worst part was when it got above knee boot level and ran into the boots. Now, THAT was an odor. We raised laying hens and cattle … not hogs, but I hired out to several neighbors that raised hogs. And, for a buck an hour … I thought I was cuttin’ a fat one.
LOL…. Life was very stinky back in the good old days! Your father was fortunate to have a strong son like you instead of 3 daughters who cringed at the sight and smell of silage!
Although we were excellent at herding butterflies. 😉

Eassa, don’t they still raise wheat in Kansas? A lot of ranchers here plant winter wheat specifically as cattle feed.
My father’s wheat goes to market. 🙂
Winter wheat is a cover crop here Matt and some till it back in in the spring for the nitrogen it puts back into the soil.
Considering what it costs per acre around here to plant winter wheat, that’s a mighty expensive form of green manure! Why not use it for animal feed?
BTW, I don’t use hay at all or winter wheat because it’s so expensive to plant. In the winter, my cattle feed on a concentrated molasses supplement and native winter grasses.
I have tried to buy the straw from the WW and the ones that use it for nitrogen will never sell it. The same farmers who freely spray Roundup. As far as hay that is definitely a regional feed type. Your challenges are just as bad as mine just different. Such is what we do brother. However without us people would go hungry.
Yep, I keep hoping our detractors will come to hate us so much that they try to hurt us by boycotting what we have to sell, which is food : )
LOL We can go to one of the protests with some sweet tea and a Turkey leg.
My wife has always had a huge interest in the old cattle drives and has actually owned several head of Milby Butlers cows. She bought them from Darrell Dickerson they can live on pretty harsh environments them Longhorns, but they don’t get fat .
Mike, I’m surprised that a breed with hair as short as longhorns can live at all in such a cold climate. But you’re certainly right that longhorns can take a lot more abuse than the improved breeds like angus and hereford. The reason longhorns are so skinny is that they have intentionally not been improved. Improved breeds used commercially are much fatter, and require a lot more care.
I’ve started raising black baldie hybrids (hereford X angus) and am very happy with the results.
We like raising Angus easy to train and bring good money at the sales. But have had Herefords and Whiteface.
I just reread and thought I should add our cows because of the climate are indoors for the winter cant afford for them to trash the pasture that will sustain them all year if they don’t. They get fed hay all winter some grain as a treat and to sneak in the supplements LOL But 90% hay and bulk up real good works for us of course I am just the barn boy and fence rider but I can connect you to the owner if you would like to speak to someone more serious than me. LOL
LOL I’m happy talking to you, Mike. You keep your cattle inside a barn all winter? Down here, we don’t shelter our cattle at all. We do get some howling cold winter winds at times, but they are uncommon enough that the cattle simply go hole up in the brush in my canyon.
Iowa ? Whereabouts ? Born in Ames. Dad was ISU Cyclone.
Moo Cow U? That, or Iowa Straight. Actually, one of the better engineering colleges in the country, depending upon the discipline. Supposedly the best school of veterinary medicine that exists. Very good school I was born in Iowa City, as that was where our physician wanted … didn’t trust the local hospital, which at that time really didn’t exist. Iowa City was around a forty minute drive (I-80 wasn’t in place then). Our farm was around nine miles Southwest of Marengo, county seat of Iowa County. Born in Iowa City, Iowa. Attended Iowa Valley School System, located in the county seat of Iowa County, Iowa. Received my undergrad from The University of Iowa …..
You don’t get much more corn fed than that … except I don’t like corn … won’t eat that stuff.
Love my Iowa Roots. Father got his degree in civil engineering (worked for the Iowa State highway commission bulldozing with Grandpa Swede) . He was born & raised in ft Dodge. My 3rd cousin was miss America (Hancock Iowa). My brother went to Iowa , accounting. Loved Anderson Erickson dairy and colonial bread. Here I am in Sh1tcago. LoL.
As earlier stated, Iowa Straight is known for being renowned, in engineering. I don’t brag about U of I. We used to cheer, at football games … that was when it was required to pay a student fee … Get charged, just use it. When our never-won-a-game football team came to the field, we’d cheer, “Give ’em h-ll, Iowa. Give ’em h-ll, Iowa. Oh, h-ll give Iowa.”
What age is your father. Back before, once again, being sent overseas … I had many business associates/friends, in Fort Dodge.
Sh1tcago? I’ve always heard it called “Sh-tCongo”. I’m not much better off, Perhaps, even worse. I’ve been in Northeast Nohio for the past two decades and I cannot seem to get out. About thirty minutes east of The Mistake on the Lake.
Also my aunt lived in cedarloo.
I was racking my brain … cedarloo … cedarloo …? Finally it hit, what few brain cells that I have left, Waterloo and Cedar Falls. OK, gotcha. I lived in Cedar Falls for a while, back in the seventies.
Want is silage and cattle beer ? I get worked up over certain memory smells too.
Truthfully, I have no clue all the various farm foliage and plants that my father put together to produce the cow chow. But the fermented mixture is nutritious feed for cattle and my father rotated feeding hay and silage during the winter months.
During the summer this mixture was packed into a cave in the side of a hill and extended outward to cattle troughs. It fermented and smelled to high heaven!
At Mother Mary’s, the beer smelled so much like that horrid ‘pickled’ cow beer. 😉
This was the look my sisters and I had before walking into the silage holding. 😉

🌛 night creampuff ! 🐇🐰⛄
Cheers
Hopefully, we’ll catch up later. I’m going to sleep soon.
cool sleep well
Recommended.
I won’t comment on the religious prohibition thing.
Anyhoo…two stories.
One drunken night resulted in me being hit by a POLICE car. Won’t elaborate except to say I got a broken arm out of the deal.
Another time, I woke up one morning hugging a ceramic/cement lawn ornament in my friends front yard. Not sure I how I got to their place but it was not the house the original party was held. :/
Hi, Kizmet!
Of the two, the second sounds much less painful.
It wasn’t that bad and the cops actually took full responsibility for it. I was just walking across the road and they came hurling around from a side street. It was probably better I had been drinking at the time as I didn’t feel anything until a couple of days later. lol
That doesn’t sound like a whole lot of fun.
I just remember the figure 8 sling thing for 8 weeks. I DID however learn to write with my left hand though so, sort of a bonus! lol
I still drink but I stopped drinking to extreme after I started working in a pub. Being sober and watching people being more than a tad cray cray puts things in perspective. lol you watch what you don’t want to be, ya know? That and the smell of beer and especially brown spirits was OTT. My husband drinks Scotch on the rocks and even pouring it makes me queasy. That whole sensory “thing” that takes you back. lol
Yeah, I once got so sick from too much beer I could never drink it again.
So you just don’t drink at all now??
That’s right. Not because of my reaction to beer, but because of health issues.
Scotch makes me quesy too. My stepdad liked Chivas regal. Took a sip and that was last . You have to have an aquired taste. Same deal with tequila. I threw up on patron next to me after a shot .
Hiya Lily. 🙂 How are you today?
Yup I am with you. Anything where the sheer smell of it makes you shudder, is out for me. lol
I don’t mind tequila but it has to be in moderation and never in a straight shot. It’s good in a LIIT and also in a Margarita.
When Ed and I were in LA we stayed at a Hilton and every night they have what’s called a “Managers Reception”. Pretty much a FREE “happy hour” style situation where you order what you want and for 2 hours, free. They also serve nibbles like canapes and crudite. I had the best LIIT’s I’ve had in a while there over January. lol
🥂🍹 I do like the crown Royal mixed with a splash of amaretto on ice, it’s Nice !
Oh you like a “nutty” flavour ? Nice! Oh grrl… I could make you some wicked desserts with that little combo! lol
Hi Kizmet.
Living in Bali, one might think that Yoga is very popular here. It is…
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/faa8db18eb568ba2da0a68f3cd17cf71c46ed29f030c2be69837bb5a991d679c.jpg
LOL, Roy!
Guy in the leather jacket is definitely going to feel that later.
Yup…no question.
Then he’ll have to go for something equally popular in Bali…massage! ;<)
Haha!
How’s it going?
Way too unseasonably hot this year, and as a result, a lot more Dengue is going around.
The good news is…no Corona virus as yet.
Cheers!
I hope you remain healthy. Be safe!
Many thanks and same to you and yours.
No offense to our Canadian friends, of course.
Of course. :<)

That bloke (in his state) looks like he could be related to Quentin Tarintino. (sp) Am I the only one who sees that?
It was him during college! 🤣🤣🤣
It could have been??

Him now and they are spookily similar.
That could be a mystery for the channel to solve. 🙂
DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!
I will use my spidey senses after making dinner. 😀
( 6.15pm here)
Nice! I hope it’s delicious! I think I’m going to bed soon. See ya later, Kizzy.
As a carnivore, can’t go wrong with a fillet steak my friend. 😀 Sleep well!! xx
I iz jelly of your steak. Yum, yum, yum!
It was good!!! At the moment whole fillets are really inexpensive ( 10 dollars a pound) so we have a good and proper inch + thick steak each, then freeze the tail ends and a couple of weeks later, make Philly Cheese Steaks with that left over. WIn win. lol
Did you sleep well? How’s your Tuesday been?
I’m about to shower. Be back shortly. 🤗
That seems like a terrific meal plan!
Although I did not sleep well and today was a bit aggravating, it’s nothing I cannot handle. At least I had a great workout today. 😀
I am frugal lol but also know a bargain. lol
You oK?? :/
Yeah, just hangry. LOL. I’m eating atm, though. 🙂
You good, Kizzy?
I am sweet as sugar today lol Just woke up in a really good mood and just continued today. Been busy though with work and also getting my little folders together for our Daughter’s convention ( which is in just over 3 weeks now) and planning another trip to Florida in June/July. 😀 BUZZ BUZZ!!

Wonderful! Love your bumble bee! That’s so cute!
I actually spent an entire summer in Orlando many years ago. It was fun. I really hope you enjoy your trip Stateside.
https://countercurrents.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/United-states-Australia-flag.jpg
I usually head there at least once every 6 months as I have work there too and like to see for myself that it’s progressing as I want it to? Have even bigger plans this year to expand and very excited. 🙂
Who knows… may even plan to head up north for a couple of days. 😉
I truly hope business is booming. What a great opportunity!
Should you pass through Chicago, you’ll have to let me know. 😄
BOOM is a big word but …seeing a noticeable difference with people’s situations would be awesome in itself. 🙂 Anything long term and viable isn’t a boom but something sustainable over an excited flurry 🙂
I was looking at some flights and there is promise OF direct flights from Brissie to O’hare within months. It would be cool to be able to head up your way and be able to get a direct flight home and be little less wonky for a week. lol
Sorry, I suddenly needed sleep last night and had to abruptly leave the chat.
Yes!!! You come here and then when you are done, a direct flight home to River City.
I did some quick research. My word, I think I’d absolutely love to visit Brissy. I had no idea what a great place it seems to be and how big and populated it is. So much to offer too. Very interesting.
I look forward to chatting again real soon!
Hey NN. No worries at all about heading to bed. We all need to sleep at some point lol
We would probably fly to LA then head to Orlando and from there go to Chicago and direct flight to Brissie. I was surprised to learn that a direct flight from Orlando to O’Hare is a mere 3 hours . Last time we went to Orlando, we thought we would give a certain airline a go and not only was it rubbish, we had to go via Auckland, then Houston and then on to Orlando and the same coming home just reversed. It was LOOOOONG.
I am wondering if you live in the vicinity of The Viceroy? I can get a good couple of night accom deal there. 😀
YUP Brissie is lovely however, we live a little further south on The Gold Coast which IMO is much lovelier than Brisbane. It has the best of all worlds really; hustle and bustle, and beaches for miles upon miles upon miles, rain forests, awesome hinterland, and good nightlife ( if so inclined), assorted theme parks, casinos … https://www.destinationgoldcoast.com/
Also if you came you’d be able to have a REAL AUSSIE PIE!! lol We’d get you one from Yatala Pies. 😀 They have been up and running for over 130 years so they must be doing it right. 😀 Any time I am OS for an extended period, on the way home from the Airport, is ALWAYS a stop there. 😉
You doing ok today?
From this Mod panel we can’t see who is being replied to. It makes it a challenge sometimes to go back and forth to view in discussion. I know who you’re referring to here. Orlando … My trip there was awesome.
@couldbekizmet:disqus … Have you ever been there before?
Oh, oops…My bad.
Orlando can be a lot of fun. 🙂
I have been to Orlando twice
Once was December- Jan 2018-2019 for 4 weeks.
Other time was June-July 2019.
As you know we went to LA and also Vegas over New Years Eve though to Jan 14th this year.
Dani and I are going back THIS coming June-July…me for business mainly and Dani, as she has a hiatus from Uni and she can do her love of theme parks on her own terms. 🙂
We LOVE there as it’s a lot like the Gold Coast QLD. a “like” style vibe. I have been keen to buy a place there since our first visit.
I knew someone back when I was at school who looked almost exactly like that guy, so we’d always show people that meme and say it was him.
LOL! Glad you’re here. I’m sorry to run out, but sleep is happening at 2:38 AM. I’ll see you tomorrow. 🙂
Haha no worries. I was thinking about sharing my worst alcohol story but to be honest it might be a little too disgusting to even be funny. 😅
LOLOL!!!
Goodnight, Roach. 😀
I did offer a subtle warning on that other discussion. Amiright? LOL
Aye, that you did. I think there’s more chill over there now, but I don’t want to jinx that by speaking too soon. LOL!
Strife is always just around the corner. Haha!
I looked at the place from which you purchased your Aussie Pies. Looks like the pies we get here in the pictures.
Yay! I thought they resembled pot pies and not Aussie pies. Maybe the pies in Queensland are prepared differently from where you are?? IDK. I didn’t attend culinary school and am far from an epicure or foodie. LOL.
Depends if pie is mass produced or more a homemade variety.
Bakeries and specialty shops do a pie that is similar to a Pot Pie.
http://memecrunch.com/meme/RYQ7/drunk-people/image.png
do you like Alcohol hombre?
I used to drink during my college days but quit per health issues. However, I don’t look down on anyone who does it to have a good time.
Do you drink?
Awesome 😀 me neither ,,,, though I dont drink at all anymore… one too many cases of alcohol poisoning for me lol
I hear ya. I used to love a good party!
me too 😀 at my 21st I got drunk and smoked weed. went to a gas station ordered coffee…. sat on the floor drinking my java…. when my mad ex ran up to me and blasted that coffee onto me for smoking weed….. 😀 Oh the joys of growing up
I hope you weren’t burned.
Maybe in the feelings 😀 but then I burnt another J later that night and the real party started lol
Ahhh…much better!
that was a weird experience btw…. cause I never smoked till I was 21…. was dating someone since I was 16/17… so when I did smoke she got mad said I changed…… ya its kinda what people do….. anyways fun weed story
When I turned 21, my fraternity brothers had me meet them at a bar. They literally ordered me the worst shots ever to see if I’d chunder. Holy Toledo, did I get drunk that night.
Holy Toledo 😀 BWAHAHHAHAHHA too funny man sounds rough 😀 Chunder is such a South AFrican word my gosh 😀
Hahahaha…To the English, that means to regurgitate.
Hahahha 😀 awesome 😀 to us it means the same 😀 Chunder fell the Chunder …. Lightning and the Chunder 😀
Lightning and Chunder?!? Oh, God! That must be horrible! LMAO!!!
LOL 😀 …. do you play any sports captain?
Oh, I did. Not anymore. I do go to the gym, though. What about you?
I havent gone to the Gym in like 2 years now…. I used to play soccer and cricket … now mainly just cricket…. I used to have weight issues…. I weighed 95kgs at my highest…. since not going to the gym though Ive lost the most weight …. now I weigh 75 …… 🙁 Skinny
Cool. I played soccer but only as a child. Do you feel better at 75 kgs?
In some ways 🙂 I feel lighter but I will admit I feel weaker ….. lacking that explosive power that I think came with having extra….. im light and fast but I feel weaker especially if I had to throw down I think id be in trouble
You can add muscle mass without a lot of bulk. It just takes time.
True .. sometimes years…. but I have Polish genetics so I tend to pick up muscle like scary…… my weight fluctuates 5-10kgs in days
Oh, they did everything they could with different shots to make me puke. To this day, IDK how I didn’t barf.
@ me 😀 😀 😀
Hola……….
Welcome back!
Thank you …. had some sleep ….. feeling strange today in a destructive ,mmood
OMG! I was so blowed last night. I choose sleep over food, then woke up with a headache from not eating. Ugh. I haven’t been quite right today since.
Hahaha shame man ….. you should always munch down 😀 ….. that sucks man … im just at my desk sipping on monster …. wishing I was in my own office again
I waited too long and then devoured the largest egg scramble I’ve ever made. So much protein. Burp!
So much of proteins 😀 ///// hahhah try scramble french toast 😀 Its a Joshie invention! 😀
Nice!!
The first time I ever got drunk was when I was working at McDonalds. My manager threw a party that had multiple types of liquor and beer. They were filling a plastic Kool-Aid pitcher with mixes of different types of alcohol and daring people to drink from one line on the pitcher to the next. Since I had never drank any alcohol before, they weren’t betting that I could drink that much mixed hard liquor. But I did so I was the star at the party and quite underage to be drinking. I got so drunk that there was no way I was going to be able to drive, so someone else drove. This was long before anyone could get arrested for DUI. I have no doubt that the driver driving my car was really drunk too but I was many shades of drunk past everyone else. We all drove around town for a while but eventually, they took me home. I staggered through the house and down the stairs to my basement bedroom. My parents were asleep so they didn’t know that I was blitzed out of my mind. I’m surprised that all the noise I was making didn’t wake them up. I’ve never done anything like that since…
When I was old enough to drink legally, we drank a lot of tequila shots. I wish I could get some of that money back. We made the waitresses wealthy with our tips and kept the bar in business…
Hey Night 🙂
I don’t really remember the first time that I drank alcohol, just that I got terribly sick on rum and coke one night. Never have had one since, the smell makes my nose crinkle.
Hope all is well in your world.
Hey Night 🙂
I don’t really remember the first time that I drank alcohol, just that I got terribly sick on rum and coke one night. Never have had one since, the smell makes my nose crinkle.

I knew early on that I could never become an alcoholic because I didn’t like the taste of alcohol. I’d much rather have a cold diet coke than a Cuba Libre. I absolutely hate the taste of beer. My father once told me that if I drank enough beer, it would grow on me. I saw no logical reason to learn to like the taste of beer. When we went to the bars, I always drank tequila shots with my friends but I never learned to enjoy the taste of them either. I don’t think you missed out on anything. If you’ve never had to pray to the porcelain god, you’ve missed nothing. And now with the DUI laws, it’s just not worth it. When I was socially drinking, the cops would follow us home if they ever pulled us over and knew that we were drunk. Those days are long gone…
I hope all is well on your end. You’ve been pretty quiet for a while now…
Hello. I was a bartender as a young age and I had the opportunity to sample many drinks that do taste excellent, almost too good. I like to tell people I’m still an experimenter. Beer, never cared for it, but I do like a Miller after a hot day working in sun. Tequila … I’ve had a few occasions sampling that … I need to be close enough to walk home, after only two.
It’s the occasional social drinkers that are likely to get LE’s attention. Yeee! Many don’t know that Easter is a day many churchies get popped. Finally one day I couldn’t stand to see what alcohol did to some so I stopped serving. I miss the money.
When I was working in the mine, we could each drink a 5th of tequila every night we went to the bar and still have very little trouble driving home. My house was at the base of the mountain, so I had farther to go than most of my friends. But after I was crushed on the job, I stopped drinking completely because I couldn’t mix alcohol with my medicines. But years later, on a business trip, I went to a bar with my boss and ordered a tequila sunrise. I got drunk on just that one drink, then suffered from a 2 day hangover. I never had hangovers when we drank heavily on our days off. The hangover takes all the fun out of it. It’s just not worth it for me anymore…
The waitresses loved us whenever we went to the bar because we were big tippers. They used to fight for us to sit in their sections. They made us feel pretty special. We also had an after hours club that opened at 2am and closed at sunrise. A lot of times, we would leave the world famous Wonder Bar and finish out the night in the after hours Union Bar. We had a lot of fun back then…
I bet with your bartender skills, you’re pretty popular at parties…
Was popular at parties. Hahaha
Dang, that a lot of alcohol to put in ones body in one day.
I have a couple of stories about the few times I drank tequila. One got me a ticket and the other damn well should have.
Instead they drove me down the road some thinking it was my home. Oooo, bad girl.
About an hour later I went back and grabbed car and drove the 40 mile trek to where I actually did live. Haha
Yep, that is a lot of alcohol and it wasn’t exactly cheap even though it was decades ago. I can’t even imagine what they would charge for the same amount of tequila today. I’m glad that I don’t drink anymore to know the answer…
Where I grew up, every bar had a drive up window. I worked the package liquor section of one bar and only carded those who acted like they were too young to buy. I’m lucky that I never got caught, but back then, the cops actually helped people who were too drunk to drive rather than arresting them. Age laws weren’t really enforced either, so just about everyone started drinking and smoking young…
Did you have any trouble getting home? A lot of drunk drivers drive way too slow, which kind of gives them away…
Oh no I drink, wine mostly, just not hard alcohol, particularly rum and coke 😉 though I keep some around, along with brandy for cooking. I bought some absinthe not too long ago, made a simple syrup with some of it, that I added as the sweetener for blackberry jam. It was yummy.
Yeah, I’ve had a few personal bumps in the road, and I may have a few more coming up, we’ll see. When a person feels particularly vulnerable or touchy disqus is typically not a great place to be, particularly if you have cohesive problems within your own group. I joined Twitter to help push the climate strike, so that has been interesting Twitter is very good at putting people of like mind in silos. There is a certain comfort in that, but if I were to gauge Society by Twitter there would only be a handful of trump supporters walking the planet & the left rules supreme. 🙂
I check in every now and then to read you guys, making sure everyone is okay at least those who haven’t gone dark. I hope all is going well on your end too.
I’ve always got headaches when I drank wine so I don’t bother. I don’t know what’s in wine that would have that affect, but I’ve heard others complain about the same thing. Now that I’m taking a lot of medicine, I don’t feel pressured into joining the group when alcohol is being served. I just tell them that I can’t drink because of my medicine. I can always be the designated driver…
I hope none of your personal bumps are too serious or long lasting. You brought a lot of helpful information into the Disqus discussions. Most of this may be a total waste of time and energy, but I think not counteracting the nonsense can be dangerous on a global level. If the liars aren’t challenged, pretty soon, most of the people will believe only the lies…
I had another online friend get hooked on Twitter and walked away from Disqus. To me, it seems like Twitter is more of an ideological bubble than Disqus. You seem to be confirming that. If everyone ends up believing that almost everyone believes what they believe based on what bubble they end up in, there will never be a way to avoid a future Civil War. I’m amazed at how many people still believe that Hillary is about to be locked up at any moment…
It appears that a lot of people decided to take a break from Disqus at about the same time you did. It felt like I missed out on something…
“Most of this may be a total waste of time and energy, but I think not counteracting the nonsense can be dangerous on a global level. If the liars aren’t challenged, pretty soon, most of the people will believe only the lies.”
My thoughts exactly.
I think I read somewhere that Tannins are responsible for headaches of moderate wine drinking.
God bless you Night, debates are for audiences, discussions are for engaging on the individual level. It is all that I can do to maintain a level of civility with the Trump supporters that I have to deal with in the physical world. Online my patience, & sympathy is belly-up 🙂
Hopefully I’m not addicted to Twitter I feel no great affection for it…lol.
I suspected that quite a few people would bail on disqus after they canceled the channels. And having to delve into a large thread to display a complete conversation is beyond annoying, but I could see how it discourages ganging up on or swarming targeted posters.
I think of these Disqus conversations as training exercises to help dealing with people in real life conversations. On social media, it gives us an opportunity to improve our debating skills and research the facts. So when I go to the dog park and have to deal with the fanatical 4:30 group, I’m fully armed and prepared for the discussion. Since they all carry their own Smart Phones, I force them to use them to fact check the nonsense they’re promoting and the facts I bring to the table. It’s actually a pretty effective tool to debunk pure nonsense…
Debating nonsense online can be tiring and irritating. I think that’s their intent. They want to wear us down to the point where we give up, and the tactic probably works well against a large percentage of the people who confront them…
I never got into the Disqus channels so I wasn’t adversely affected when they were discontinued. The problem is that few have anywhere else to go. I doubt that Coral is catching on. Markos Moulitsas and others developed Coral and it was adopted by Mother Jones last year. When Common Dreams walked away from Disqus in favor of their own inhouse software, the number of members dropped like a rock. I suspect the same is happening at MoJo. I’ve never understood why Twitter ever became a thing even though it was heavily promoted by highly paid journalists and commentators early on. Do any of the Twitter channels function similar to blogs where they post an article then people respond? It seems like you just find people you like and follow whatever they write. I doubt that most Tweets ever get read since there are so many. I just don’t get the appeal…

Two excellent points, NR.
One of the things I like about these social media discussions is that I’ve learned a lot as I research to back up my views and to fact check arguments others are making. There’s so much out there that we don’t know that I probably wouldn’t learn on my own. These discussions keep my mind active and help me stay informed in what’s happening around the world. That’s not something we can often get from TV and news sources or from a small group of like minded friends. It’s also interesting to hear how others experience the world we live in. If we didn’t have to constantly deal with trolls, we all could learn so much more from each other and our personal experiences…
“If we didn’t have to constantly deal with trolls, we all could learn so much more …”
. . .or the willfully -and blissfully🙄 – ignorant.
At some point, you soon realize that the willfully/blissfully ignorant are trolls too since they ignore facts and logic and continue promoting pure nonsense. This isn’t normal behavior for anyone other than the mentally challenged. I can forgive people who are born with mental illness. It’s hard to forgive the willfully ignorant since they stand in the way of progress…
I don’t know Night, you definitely pick up thoughts, concepts and styles that can be helpful, other days it feels like a few hundred people just vomited into your brain.
Disque channels: Sometimes you could find some really great articles, comments, posters, & discussions on disqus channels. All too often it was attached to needless personal melodrama and groupthink, with no small amount of manipulation.
Mother Jones had every intention of cleaning house. It really was their intent. They probably think they can build their Community back up again and overtime they might.
I’m going to come back later to Twitter it’s an interesting medium that deserves a critique. I’m off to Michigan today, & need to get going.
Have a good day, catch you later Night.
Have fun in Michigan and have a safe trip…
I really only encountered a small number of channels. What I saw was the same small group of people having the same arguments over and over and over again but nothing ever changed. In one channel, some of the prominent members were openly hostile to the others, so the group would fight and ban/block each other, then “mend” fences and start all over. But the fights were brutal. I didn’t see how anyone on the Channel was benefiting in any way whatsoever. I couldn’t even imagine wanting to become a member of the channel and join in on the “fun“…
I had no real experience with MoJo before it switched over to Coral. Was its community similar to Mediate and The Hill? Both of those communities also appear to be a total waste of time and heavily used and abused by trolls. I’m amazed that the owners tolerate and ignore the behavior of the trolls in their communities…
What I like about Disqus is the like minded friends you can make spanning multiple communities. I found most of the communities I frequent based on where others were going. It’s kind of nice to know that others have your back and that you’re not alone in environments that often aren’t that healthy. I think we can have the most success in changing the world for the better if we can unite and work together to challenge the nonsense. I know that when I try to fight it alone, my efforts are a total waste of time…
Hi Stephanie. Some of twitter is ok. However, the Drumfkins/teahadists and the neverBernie groups make it a bad medium. The neverBernie folks seem to consist mostly of folks who will support any Democrat candidate except Bernie though I think some of them based on their tweets will adjust and accept Bernie if he is the nominee and vote for him. Worst comes to worst, this country’s terminal decline continues for another 4, 8, or even 12 years.
Hey Steph, nice to see you. Have missed you too and sorry to hear you have had personal stuff going on. Hope it has cleared up and that it doesn’t relate to your new lilly. I so agree that disqus is not the place to be if one is feeling vulnerable.
If you get the urge to reconnect to what there is of the group as small as it is, you will always be welcome. Your name has come up and I know that TA, along with me, wishes you well.
Best to you, sister.
Oh thank you New, I miss you guys too, I was going to send an email to touch base, which I’ll do tomorrow, it’s late even for me. ♡

The first time I got drunk I think I was about 11 years old. It was at a wedding. I was serving the alcohol. I ended up dancing with the best man. My mom pulled me away, and put me in the car. To sleep it off. The second time I was with my sister. I was about the same age. I’m surprised I didn’t become an alcoholic.
Haha! Weddings are so much fun!
I have a funny wedding story too. I was a groomsman and we kidnapped the soon to be husband in a limo and took him out for drinks and mayhem. Another one of the groomsman was always braggadocious. He talked so much trash about how he was going to drink us all under the table during the bachelor party.
Later, he disappeared for a while and I found him outside in the limo. It was in the parking lot near a dumpster. As I approached, I could tell someone threw up. So, I asked this guy if he puked. Of course, he completely denied it.
When we returned to the hotel, I guess we made a bit of noise and all the bridesmaids watched from their windows as fool proceeded to vomit all over a lovely flower bed.
At the rehearsal dinner the next day, the bride’s mother comes by and tells our friend, “Hey, I hear you can really hold your liquor.”
