Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you’ve done something that can have serious consequences, and you are on the verge of being caught? A moment where you say to yourself: “Why do I DO things like this?” Your brain is working overtime to find an excuse, but your thoughts are like a squash ball during a heated match.
If so, dare and share that (almost) embarrassing moment.
Yep, when I was in the USN in the early eighties, when in our home port, we’d sneak pitchers of beer out of the enlisted men’s club. In the winter when it was cold, we found an interesting place to drink it. There were hundreds of armored personnel carriers sitting on railroad flat cars ( an APC looks like a tank but is designed to carry troops). We found one of them unlocked and used it to drink our beer in. Everything went well until my buddy got the thing started and couldn’t figure out how to turn it off. Since it sounded loud enough to wake the dead, I thought for sure we’d get caught. We never did…..
I can imagine the “panic-adrenaline’ probably had more kick than the beer! Ain’t it awesome to be young and daring!
Yeah, I’m sure there was some sort of kill switch in plain view; we just didn’t see it. At least we didn’t hurt anybody, though I’m sure some poor Marine had a terrible time trying to clean up the mess!
Travelers We Are
“I hear the wind, but I don’t know where it is going
or whence it is coming from”
Like the wind,
travelers we are somehow.
Not always knowing the difference
between the musts and all our wants.
But our young hearts pumped
and the dare in our veins,
turned the confusion into fun!
Never swallow 47 balloons full of heroin while running from the police. I kid, I kid. I wouldn’t know anything about that.
Care to expand on that?
Haha. I see what you did there. 🙂
Psssst… (Looks around and whispers) I didn’t realize the pun until I accidently wrote it. But lets keep everyone else thinking that i’m witty!!
Mum’s the word. That was brilliant! LMAO!
You’re bad ! I wuz thinking htf ,,, eww, now my stomach hurts . I heard if the colonic isn’t a success, they’ll cut your guts out .
LMAO! I only mentioned this as a joke per having watched multiple episodes of “Locked Up Abroad.”
Naughty No-Name strikes again!
Literally, I’m envisioning an actual play by play ; when I got to 46 balloons , made my stomach churn thinking of those germy balloons and the exaggerating quota. I knew 10-15 is average. I must check out “LOCKED up abroad. “
YouTube has some crazy content. Of course, I’m exaggerating with the totally random number of 47 yet it is insane what some of those people on the program attempted.
Flight Attendants look for the sure-tell balloonists; the hazy red-eyes, not eating, drinking, or bathroom. one carried a deadbaby filled up with that junk. Then they phone security to be waiting when they land (or they will follow them into the bathroom -yea that’s it !) Lol !!
Ah ha, here’s another one from center field. ” Curdled” , another dark humored twisted thriller. Angela Jones (pulp fiction lady cabdriver to Bruce Willis box match escape ) & William Baldwin. Warning : gory crime scene cleanups .
Ooh…I found it:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115994/
By the way, I like science fiction too. Last night, I watched this:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5968394/
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.
Really ? Why’s that. Trailors not shabby.
I was surprised it was so bad because the trailer is good and I like John Goodman as an actor.
However, it didn’t seem there was any character development at the very beginning. This made it somewhat difficult to fully follow and appreciate the plot.
That’s my .02 cents.
I see Ferris Buehller’s friend was in it too. I liked that movie.
Seems wild, with a great cast. Funny.

I attached my DNA to laser beams, and aimed the beam 24/7 across the universe at the speed of light.
I figured eventually my DNA would land in warm swamp water on different planets lightyears away.
Finally some result!!
OMG,…What have I done?!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ayCdRCoZEU
Crazy you! A laser beam does not scatter. The next (cloned) you might wake up on planet earth after bouncing of VY Canis Majoris. Then you will have to pay double taxes.
But its aim was constantly changing….and I live in California, so I do pay double taxes. : )
Fortunately, I used particles from a massive Quantum entanglement, so I can keep an eye on my extended family out there!!
Quantum entanglement? They are using you!!!! You ask old Feynman or Einstein, what he called the “spooky action at a distance.”
Oh, by the way, I solved that spooky action, along with the movement of time, and space, all in one theory.
I wrote it in disqus a few years ago so that 50 years from now, my kids can be proud.
Like all of these things, it brings up more questions, but damn, it fits!
I have tried it once but my concept of time is a solid block. You see I regard time as an illusion. In my mind time can only exist if something happens. Without happenings time does not exist. And even then it is without a foundation. In my awaken reality (maybe the awaken reality is the ‘abnormal’) ‘time’ is fixed but in my ‘dream world’ a day can be a few seconds. Einstein said, and I quote: ‘Understanding is the ability to grasp the overall context that link all the parts into a meaningful whole.’ And finding meaning in time seems to be above my intellect. I’m sitting in the back of the class when it comes to quantum mechanics.
But like you correctly said, it just brings up more questions.
BTW i would love to read your theory.
Yes, I’ve read the solid block thing. Everything, and every possibility always has been, and always is there. Our souls are traveling through moments in it giving the illusion of space and time.
My theory is bigger on imagination than science.
The universe is an alternating current one. Its in a pair, opposite from each other, which totals zero.
One extra electron, “The God particle” if I may borrow the term.
The electron bounces into universe A+, and runs through every single electron in the universe. Once its done, it is one unit of time. The Quantum entanglement is “Instant” because the information is traveled with the moving electron between the single unit of time.
This is also the same for time, and movement. thus time and movement feels and looks fluid, but changes in a single unit with time. We cant perceive the unit movements of space and time, because it all happens at the same time.
The electron is extra, and and gets kicked out of A+ universe, and then sucked into A- Universe, and does the same thing.
____
About that particle. Universe A+ attracts the opposite charge particle as it is in need of it to equal out, however it is an extra particle, so it keeps the charge while spitting out the particle. That forces the particle to flip charge, and for the same but opposite reason Universe A- sucks the particle in.
Ping pong style, alternating current universe. The God particle causes the big bang which is then in an infinite game of ping pong. : )
Its late, so my explanation might not be the best tonight. I am not a scientist of any sort. I just became shocked 20 years ago when I accidently came across a three line article in the newspaper about observing quantum particles has an affect on them. I then went on to read many books on it all.
Impressive. I’ll have to read it a few times to try and find meaning. At the moment my ‘time’ block is like a red traffic light saying “no go”. Quantum entanglement is instantaneous, which means there cannot be any ‘time’ involved. My first impression from your comment is that you see a ‘time unit’ the same as a quanta (energy), a discreet packet i o w. If you bring the so-called quantum vacuum (where negative energy are suppose to exist) into the equation it means the ‘outside’ may ‘borrow’ negative energy from the ‘inside’ to nullifies some energy, and that is also instantaneously. But it cannot be observed without disturbing the quantum state. So it is all ‘guess theory.’ But whether true or not, instantaneously means there cannot be any ‘time’ involved. And that is my BLOCK.
I’m not a scientist either. But I do find the quantum domain very interesting for various reasons. Mainly because it, sort of, say to me there exist parallel worlds outside our current intellect where the rules are completely different, if there are any rules. Where there are no boundaries and only possibilities exist, which is also boundary-less. But I guess we will know the answers someday.
Thanks for the discussion so far.
I’m not clear on what the hell im writing anyway, so….
But I vison its like opening up a stopwatch. As you are moving each gear, one second ahead, it has not moved in time until its all done, snap,….a second is suddenly accomplished. It could be relatively infinity between seconds.
Negative energy. My best definition of that? My X wife. she could just suck the energy out of a room, and its just vanished, gone, Poof!
Instantaneously? ha ha ha.
Have you noticed that once you try focus on these things your mind goes berserk. It is like a herd of wild horses out of control and they don’t tire!
IMO, time is illusory. I’ve seen a few documentaries on the subject. 😉
Agree
Initially, I thought quantum entanglement the fever dream of the scientifically illiterate. Now, I know Einstein actually got it wrong and such a phenomena exists. It’s somewhat mind-blowing.
The holy grail of physics is the equation that ties in our everyday physics that we live in, with quantum physics
Or we could simply be in a video game.
Perhaps their is a reason you are here right about the time when simulated universes become a real thing is because you are actually back in time, or on vacation from your real self that 50 years from now
In 50-100 years, simulated universes will be at hand.
Regardless, its all gonna change when people start linking brains to quantum computing
You got it, Daddy-o. Now, my brain hurts. 😀
..
I was sitting in a long and boring management meeting when my brain told me it is ok to close my eyes for a few seconds. (The rest of my body was already asleep.)
I don’t know how long the few moments were, but I was shocked back to reality by a demanding voice saying: “And you, mr.X, what do you say? It was the (grinning) chairman, standing in front of me..
I answered without hesitation:” I agree”
“You agree with what?”
“I agree with everything being said”
I had a standing ovation!!
Me and my buddy used to get drunk when we were teenagers and his older sister would drive us around. We would do little mischievous things like shoot out streetlights with bb guns and other stupid stuff. This night we had got a bunch rocks and broken bricks from somewhere and were playing hit the street signs at 50-80 mph
So while out this car tried to pass us and the girl accelerated and did not let them by …. so to make a long story short …. They were also drinking and hit our car with a beer bottle.
We happened to have a big pile of rocks still in the car so we caught up with them and bounced a couple rocks off their car for paybacks …..
These guys were older than us (later found out they were seniors at our high school) … so we stopped near the woods and they passed us …. The girl let us out of the car and me and my drunk friend waited in ambush for them to come back by. When they came speeding around the corner very fast … I chunked a big like 15-20 pound rock at their car …. As it flew out of my hand … I had that ” WHAT DID I JUST DO MOMENT” as this huge rock flew over their car …. If it would have hit the windshield it would have probably killed someone ….. I WAS SCARED FOR A SPLIT SECOND ….
Needless to say …. I never threw a rock at a car again … and we heard the seniors were trying to find out if anyone knew who those two kids in the ford were… because those older guys had plans to beat the crap out of us …. (we were freshmen)
Anyways … I have several other stories that would fit this topic … but that’s a good one ..
SO YEA … I almost killed one or two guys while drunk. … Good times 🙂 `
Youth is vanity…Lol
Helz Seniors ruled… A freshman . Was it a Ford pinto ? Did you have a secret crush on your friends older , developed sister ?? hehe!
We had a ford Crown vic … my friends sister was ugly, but she was super cool
But she had chacha’s — oh laaurdy that’s funny !
the moments you describe, i feel very different
it’s an adrenaline rush, sometimes i seek them out
danger if JUST controlled can be fun
It all depends on the possible consequences. But yes, sometimes it can be fun.
I’m on to you ! 👍
i hope then that you are not the person who made my other account horrible.
no, just kidding, i remember you from there 🙂
I pushed my luck driving while tired when I was in my 20s. And so it happened. I fell asleep for 3 seconds, but that was enough to crash right through a sign, spin into a 360, and wind up on the median.
I got caught. The police showed up. My car was ruined, although I managed to drive it back. My insurance went up. I had to pay the state for the sign and post.
Ever since, I go to safe spot and nap if tired. More than that, I just don’t drive if tired. The dumb things we do when young. I posted once before how I drove drunk once, but nothing happened…again, stupidity.
I was about to get into the same situation decades ago after drinking
heavily, very heavily.“I’ll just sleep for a couple hours in the car” …then passed out in the front seat.
I woke up with a jolt as my car hit the curb, then an oak tree at 55 miles an hour.
I remember deciding to sleep, and the 1/4 of a second between the curb, and the tree, which was a couple hours later.
I broke many things, and spent five days in the hospital.
Hopefully your injuries weren’t long lasting. I fortunately didn’t get A scratch.
But yeah, we do some foolish things. I remind myself of it to stay humble and not ride people too hard. But for some luck, we could be dead, in jail, or killed somebody for bad driving decisions.
Scary.
So true
Four weeks off. Now sometimes when I am driving late on a weekend, I know their are people who are driving like i used to do.
The best part was that no one was injured but me,….well,…. a dead oak tree, and car.
r
You have at least learned a valuable lesson. Alcohol don’t have brakes!
Hopefully you are ok today.
Yes, i went back to work after one month.
I take great joy embarrassing myself.
You are the boss. Not the ego. Great!
Don’t you love meeting someone in person, and everything they say is controlled by a sensitive ego in constant protection mode? I’ve been working on that one for decades.
The answer is; not really. Humbleness and honesty don’t need an ego. Maybe some diplomacy sometimes. But that is just my opinion. I’ve been wrong many times.
I traveled at least half my life knowing yet powerless to fix it. When i was about 21, I was at a party, and some gal a bit older said something about “I’m sure you are really a great person, but I haven’t met you yet’. Decades later, I flashed on that memory when It all cleared up, and I then knew what she meant.
One thing though. The journey has no end, and that’s a good thing
Night ZZzzzz…….
For sure
Hmm , Imagine you wrong ? (Compliment 🙂 ).
🙂 Thank you.

Awww lil rascal !! XO !
It is not a good idea to feed the wildlife.
My biggest worry would have to have been when my kids were born. I worried the doctors might have missed something. I only wanted two things. Them to be healthy. The second one was for a girl. I wanted a boy and a girl in that order.
And,……How many kids now?
Just the two. 22, 26.
You?
Three, and about same ages.
Nice. I really only wanted the two. My daughter is in school. My son is training to be a chef.
hmmm….long ago….it involves a rain storm, an axe and a cabin…..in hind sight I should have used a shaper axe….xD
Long ago? So you have survived it. Excellent.
long story, I was the one with the axe….lol..
the most worrysome time for me was exactly 15 years ago mom had been in the hospital 1 month (gall bladder ) i was worried alot i cried alot i even prayed asking god to give the pain mom has or to take my life instead of hers 🙁 shes ok now thankfully
i was very worried when i got into a minor 1 vehicle accident it was 7 years ago when i was 17 at the time i already had a problem with alcohol it was around 10 pm my brother called me i was drinking my brother said to me ” mom isnt feeling well ” i was 40 minutes away at my other home ( in photo on another thread) so i kept thinking about mom and suddenly i left to go see her
I took the WRONG EXIT causing me to go off into grassy ditch and making my pickup stuck in the dirt i called my mom told her what happened she was on her way to get me a passerby saw me i told him i was ok a police officer arrived 20 minutes afater i went into ditch the police officer didnt charge me with MIP ( i had beer in ice chest ) and didnt get me with DWI ( i had 6 16 oz beer cans that night )
while the officer was there i was worried i was gonna lose my license and get charged with DWI
but by some miracle i didnt get those im sure the officer knew i was drunk
One of my own moments. (There were a few, believe me.)
I am a keen collector of rocks. Not only precious or semiprecious rocks, but also rocks with a historical value. Whether it is a piece of granite, limestone, marble, etc. as long as it has a historical value (for me). But most of these rocks or stones are lying around in ‘sacred’ areas and are taboo for tourists
We were traveling by train, from Rome to Lucerne (the most beautiful place on earth) in Switzerland, when a couple of men in uniform started walking down the corridor in the train, checking passports and the occasional luggage. At that moment I started to sweat. There were more than two kilos of illegal rock specimen in my suitcase and they say these train police can smell a criminal a mile away.
When they eventually came to us we showed them our passports and other documents, when the one came to me and looked me in the eyes. “Is that your luggage” he asked, pointing to our four suitcases. I said yes and he asked me: “Have you got anything in there that needs to be declared?” I looked back into his eyes and said; “no.” They then proceed a few seats down the train, when he suddenly turned around and came back straight at me. Now I am dying. I was so scared that if I was not on a fast moving train, I would have made a break and run.
“Sir, which one of those suitcases is yours?” I first thought of pointing at my wife’s suitcase but realize that will not help me. And he could see how rattled I was. So I said; “the grey one.” “Are you sure there is nothing to be declared?”
I answer affirmative. Before he could say anything else I said: “Must I open it?”
At that moment something was dripping down my legs. I was so scared and I’m sure I prayed out loud. After he looked at me for another few seconds that felt like a day, he turned around and joined the other who were busy tearing the luggage of another person apart.
My wife almost left me. She said she is not getting on the plane with me. I had to plead and promise; “no more ‘pick-up’ rocks. Can I please keep these ones?”
To make long story short, I arrived safely in South Africa with my rocks hidden between my clothes in my suitcase.
But never, never again do I want to go through that stress again.
That’s longer than the OP…:)
I’ll continue tomorrow.
I am sending the invites now. but I am sorry I can help you moderate.
It’s 10 to 12 am here now.
Have fun…:)
Have a good night’s rest.
Thank you….
You have a wonderful day out there.
See you tomorrow.
2 Kilos ! You Bad !
I like how Historical Value sounds… I took the Gondola up to Mt. Pilates , 3 overnights . Serenity .
We were touring Europe and we visited many of these ‘sacred’ sites, like Caesar’s palace in Rome, or breathtaking Castles in Bavaria, etc. Each time we visited one of these sites I would carry by backpack, half open, in my hand. Whenever I spot a beautiful ‘thing’ I would bend down and fasten my shoe laces, and with a quick hand, the piece will disappear into my backpack. By the end of the day my backpack was quite heavy. Then my wife would tell me: “Take note, if they lock you up in a strange country I am going home and I will leave you here!”
Hey @Palapie:disqus
Your topic is here…*Smile
Thank you for posting.
I am sending the invites but I will leave after that as it’s very late here now.
Will come back tomorrow.
@Palapie:disqus
Do you like it to be Worrying or Embarrassing?
I saw the title and the question are difference…:))
Let me know.
Well, to be honest, it is worrying but might as well end up in the most embarrassing moment…Lol
See my contribution above.
Okay haha…
Is the picture okay then as it it for embarrassing?
Perfect, thank you.
Great…I am glad you like the pic.
