Pink Floyd is my favorite band of all time. Their influence on music is undeniable, and their top selling album Dark Side of the Moon is considered one of the best albums of all time. It’s not my favorite Pink Floyd album, placing probably as 3rd favorite (Behind Wish You Were Here at 2nd and The Wall at 1st). Animals is a pretty solid album as well, with Dogs being one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs, so that’s probably 4th. Anyway, do you like Pink Floyd? If so, what’s your favorite album or songs? What do you think of their movie, The Wall (I love it)? You either love them, think they’re okay, or hate them. I actually went to saw David Gilmour perform at Pompeii, and my dad saw Pink Floyd’s last concert, and recorded it. My favorite part of it was when Roger Waters and David Gilmour were playing Time together. I don’t know why, but it just make me happy they could play again before Waters’ unfortunate death. Anyways, this is my first thread on this channel, so…
Here is one I like. Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W_QvtJ8vN0
Since this one hasn’t been posted yet, I might as well add one from the band. I’ve heard this quite a lot before and would energize me sort of. I could never get all the lyrics to the tune though some of them kind of sounded fearful enough to keep me from considering this a favorite. Thankfully there’s youtube and someone who uploaded it. Given most of the lyrics and despite some of them coming off as too harsh, I could see why this might be a pretty darn good song to sing sharp and angrily at our crummy pols though we could replace the “girlfriend” part with us people in general. Sorry. Long day. Here’s the song.

PS: Found the full lyrics to the tune.

One of my favourite songs. I recently saw Roger Waters’ (bassist of Pink Floyd) concert (not live) at the cinema. After playing songs from the album ‘Animals’ where they had huge sprites of political figures – ‘Pigs’ – they played Us and Them. It was the high point of the whole performance for me, because it suddenly went from damning messages to very positive ones. I think that’s why he named that tour Us and Them.
Once all was wrapped up, he said his final statement: “Races, religions and cultures should not separate people. There is no us and them. There is only us.”
Those are very inspiring words.
I like that.
Hey, Roach.
How are you, my little Bro?…hehe
Lucky you to have the chance to enjoy such a rare concert.
They are great band. I believe they never disappointed their fan.
Another Bricks On the Wall too is political, the tyrant teachers grilling students..:))

You are very welcome.
I’ve been fine, thank you. I hope it’s the same to you too.

Thank you and you too..:)

Quite a few years ago there was a very groovy blog called DreamTime Mix whose author specialized in very good remixes of a wide variety of pop-rock music. The site is long gone now, but a few of the remixes are still afloat online here and there, and one of the outstanding reworkings still up is this very smoothly stitched-together retake of all three parts of “The Wall”

This is actually pretty cool. She nailed the guitar solo.
She’s even done some Hendrix.I haven’t got through all her offerings yet,but a favorite so far is “The Man Who Sold the World”.Just now I’m listening to her do Booker T & the MG’s-“Green Onions.”
Awesome !!!
If you want to see a real finger workout look at her playing”Layla”.
I’ll look for it.
Very nice…
Do I even need to say it? 😎

The Great Gig in the Sky is likely my favorite. You Tube hip hop listening to Great Gig for the first time.
Totally ridiculous but great fun nonetheless . . . .
I have not seen that video.
Very nice choice, Kid.
I love it.
I know a Pink Floyd single: Money. I think the other side was Any Colour You Like.
More than 17 million viewers.

My first ever downvote!
http://www.blackstrat.net/ Some interesting music info from the good old days. I saw Elvis Costello there on Jan 23 1981. Pink Floyd was there on May 15/16 1970. I missed that one. I was only 7. lol
I like quite a bit of their music.

Love to play the intro to this song https://youtu.be/DPL_SV3n7IU
A very pleasant guitar acoustic to listen to…. Love it
Yeah. I don’t know if I like the David Gilmour version or the original more. David is getting old, so he has to shorten a lot of the notes, but it works well. I think I probably like the original more.
Same with alot of the old guitarists. Fingers don’t move as freely lol
My dad plays guitar, and he’s moves pretty quickly, but sometimes his carpal tunnel gets in the way. 😖
It was only fantasy
The Wall was too high
Cuz you can’t see
No matter how he tried, he could not break free
And the world sank into his brain
(Epic guitar solo)
Hey You
Out there in the cold
Always doing what you’re told
Can you help me
Hey you
Out there on the wall
Breaking bottles in the hall
Can you help me
Hey you
Don’t help them to bury the light
Together we stand, divided we fall
Their guitar licks are awesome!
They are!
Agreed and found this, very nice.

He can bend those notes!
True tho.
You know much, you must be a pro guitarist?
Wish i was, play evey day but still an amateur. No natural talent here lol
Lol

Shine 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Hey they,
I like that song too…:))
Another thing I would like to say about them is that their music helped me get through a lot, such as my mother pretty much abandoning me, and dumping onto my dad and step mother. They were kind and took great care of me, but my own mother not wanting me kind of hit me hard. For a while, it sucked. I just sat around with my TV on, but not actually watching it, just looking past it. (I don’t remember this, but my dad told me about it)
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/760f3e45cdc5875f5ac19ae6e71da4aec894e7178889df10fa50294508319026.gif
I remember at one point my dad decided to show me some bands he liked, and Pink Floyd was one of them. After that, I listened to them until my families ears bled. At one point, my entire family could probably sing the whole album Wish You Were Here by heart. I listened to it so much, my dad didn’t even like them anymore 😂. But this is probably why Pink Floyd means so much to me, even now. My mom was pretty heavy one drugs, too, and slept with some new guy every day. So she didn’t have time to care about me. The only time she did was when she felt bad or wanted to show off to her friends, not because I was her son.
We close to same
Only both parents didn’t want me
Sorry to hear that.
Gotten easier
Same.
Your father loves you and I hope you step mother does too.
But was Pink Floyd the only band you watch that time?
You can share the music you like on here anytime you want to and I’ll publish your post.
I’m thinking about doing a Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix, and the Doors threads. Thank you, but I’ll wait a couple days. My stepmother definitely loves me. She my real mother, tbh. This is my other favorite Pink Floyd song. It’s very influential to me, lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_yRvxy9HVs
I like RHCP so much.
I still have their CDs tho.
Looking forward to it then….
Jimmy Hendrix, one of the greatest guitarist world ever has, much older time than my generation, but people still love him.
The Doors, I know some of their songs too.
Glad to hear.
I watched that video for couple of time.
I love their album Californiacation. Call me a basic b*tch, but I love it. I have the CD’s for Blood Sugar Sex Magick and Californiacation. I also have a vinyl record of the Jimi Hendrix album Hey Joe, and the Doors’ album LA Woman. I love Jim Morrison, and probably have every book written about him.
Pink Floyd is a legendary band.
I like some of their songs and this is one of them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlVf8FyNdxs&list=WL&index=5&t=0s
I agree. I don’t really know why that’s a lot of people favorite, however. It’s good and atmospheric, but in my opinion, it’s not their best.
IMO, think this one is their best with their original video clips that one commenter here has posted it on this thread. I like this vinyl version better..:))
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tz-VYurYJ6o&list=WL&index=67&t=0s
Same. That’s one of my favorites.
Great to be in the same fan club.

I hope you can enjoy the interaction here..
I am sending the invites for you now so please don’t go because I may be gone soon.
I won’t. Thanks. 😅
Great. I am here for couple of minutes.
Ok.
Indeed, another band to stand the test of time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbnGoSXh6P8
Yep. They hold a special place in my heart.
They like to write about animals, do you know what story behind it?
Like on the ‘Pig’, they wrote 3 different parts.
No, I don’t. I know the story behind making Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, and the Wall, but not Animals. I consider the four to be the best of Pink Floyd.
I agree, those four are the best.
Those are my favorite along with Comfortably Numb.
I’m talking about the albums. It’s hard for me to choose my favorite, so I just choose the album with the most songs I like, but include other factors as well, like the overall theme, quality, effort, and atmosphere in it. So if I had to choose one, it would be the album the Wall, which has Comfortably Numb in it.
Brother Merlin, here is some rarely heard Pink Floyd I’ve been listening to lately. It’s not their best, but it’s very good considering how few people have ever heard this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meakeqR2dmc
Aye brother, Fingal’s Cave. From a time when Waters’ puirt à beul echoed back to your ancient family. Sadly, all good things come to pass, yet the songs remember when. Good of you to drop by with a sharing. *smile
He’s on our white list.
He was caught on pending…:)
Many thanks, my dear…as his treatment by the bot was most severe.
I am sorry that happened to him and made him a low rep.
Indeed, though he wears it well…and by the way, you’ve got mail. 😉

That’s one of my favorite. It holds the one bass line that ECHOES (get it?) throughout the rest of the album when the chorus comes in.
One of the greatest bands ever.
Agreed.
They are pretty good. I like the Orwellian theme of “Animals.”
https://youtu.be/gOqblSqx_VI
I love that song. It’s such a catchy tune.
I love Pink Floyd. Well crafted music by great artists.
Yep.
I still enjoy slipping on the headphones and turning up the volume and getting into the music I was somewhat out of it for a while and my wife said she’d put on some floyd put the headphones on me and swear I’d get a smile lol I have to take her word
