I believe everyone has read or watched on TV the Bushfire Crisis in Australia. We have many friends there just from this platform, plus those we know behind the computer or phone screen. We really can do nothing but have them in our prayers.
Here are some reliable links to know more about the crisis.

Please share your thoughts and please recommend.
This is a terribly tragic situation. Australia has some of the world’s most unique animals and they seem to be taking a terrible hit right now.
It has been raining in recent days in some areas affected by the crisis, the fire has been extinguished and many animals that have survived the fire such as Koalas and Kanggoroo have been able to be evacuated and saved.
Thanks for dropping in.
As of yesterday, I heard that it was over 1 billion animals that were killed in the fires. Also a firefighter was responsible for setting 17 of the fires. If this is true then I hope a judge gives him the maximum sentence allowed. Poor animals.

Same with the other wildfires that took place they were
deliberately started
RIP for the victims and hoping the animals will get help sooner than later.
Really? The Daily Caller?

Dear Friends,
If any of you buy takeaway on occasion and use an app called Ritual, now is the time to order. For a limited time, every single order will generate a donation to the largest wildlife organization in Australia.
I did my part today. Please order through the app or donate to a well-vetted charity in support of our Aussie friends and wildlife.
Thanks for participating and for the suggestion, Josh.
Haven’t heard about that app, I just tried to download from my Apple Store, but it didn’t come up.
It may only be available in the USA. I’m not sure.
I think so too. Itโs only available there.
Im disabled (Multiple sclerosis since 6/2018) *sigh* im sure theres many folks in Australia who really reall NEED theyre medications as i do needing the glatirmirer aceatate injections i take 3 x a week *sigh* if i ever was without my medication i can go thru a relapse which may need hospitalization *sigh* i feel bad for folks in Australia who are disabled and really need theyre medications ๐ i really really hope that those folks are able to get medication they NEED , God bless them
Yes, I posted this song recently, on another thread here. But I can’t stop listening to it, thinking of all those suffering in Australia- praying for rain and relief. Ezio Bosso’s composition about the poetry of rain, ‘Rain, In Your Black Eyes’…dedicated to every Aussie/sweet creature affected by the fear and the flames:

Port Macquarie Koala Hospital and 57 others are organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Port Macquarie Koala Hospital .

That goes really well. They got far more than their goal. Itโs good to know.
I like that they put the drinking stations out in nature. That allows all kinds of animals to benifit. I agree, it’s great someone thought of it.
I just hope they will really use the funds for this crisis.

Sorry but I did this poem in a hurry and put it on meme.
My heartfelt prayers for inhabitants of Australia.
May these days soon be in your rear glass

For in these time weโre a sister, a brother, father or mother
May relief soon brighten the skies
We all love you and hear your cries
We will pray for a better day to help you through your pain
My prayers go out to you all and I also pray for heavy rain

Hugs back, Murn. I’m so glad you’re back- it just wasn’t the same here, without you. But I hope you had a wonderful vacation/holiday/break from the web. You deserve a rest from us. Hee Hee.
Truly, Murn…your compassion, patience, and kindness is inspiring.
p.s. Speaking of all things Aussie…I miss Timmy!!! Please give him my best wishes, if you speak with him. I’m quite sad he’s gone.
Thanks for all you do, Murn!
๐
Yes, I am back although still on and off. Itโs good to take vacation from the net, lessen the distractions and get more focus for rl. ๐
But you too are: kind, compassionate, nice and super friendly. I see you are loved by many here too.
On his last email to me after he deleted his account, Timmy said that if friends here would want to contact him, it is okay to give away his email address. He knew I would only give it to those I know are good. So let me know if youโd like to have it, but I wonโt let it stay open for too long so Iโll make sure you are here when I post it then I can edit it after you see it. ๐

I was shocked to read that most of these fires may have been started by humans. May God open up the skys and bring relief. Hang tough Australians
Amen,๐
Thank you, Mina.
As nobody has been identified and named to the public out of the 130 or so arrested, then I am forced to wonder if this isn’t a terror attack by Muslim Immigrants. We may never see a picture of hear a name because of that.
130 or so were not arrested.
No. Most fires were not started by humans.
If not by humans how were they started? Intense heat?
In general, bushfires are commonly started by lightning strikes, sparks from power lines and human activity.
Lol. 80% of forest fires are started because of humans. Easy google. “Theย major cause of forest firesย in the United States is human activities. This can be carelessness such as not putting out a campfire or dropping a lit cigarette. It may also be arson, which is setting aย fireย on purpose and is against the law. Around 80% ofย forest firesย in the United States areย caused by humans.”
Hence the Aussie Bushfire Crisis is caused by humans. It’s not a wonder that disinformation is rife on the internet…
Most bush fires are also started by human activity, though Australia had bush fires long before it was colonized by Europeans. Many are part of a natural growing cycle, not climate change.
So that’s the goal. Attempting to discredit climate change science.
The fires are good propaganda for Global Warming.
Recommended.
Making this OP was wonderful and very kind, Murn.
As an Aussie, I thank all those who’ve left such loving and caring posts. ๐

Simple OP, sometimes it means something for those who are affected and I thank those who join the pray here too.
It’s heartbreaking. Is your family okay?
Hey Eri
We had our mass bushfires in Queensland in November and early December but there are still spotted fires up in QLD. We were one street away back in November though. ๐ The girls are in AU ( Ed and I are in LA) and they are safe. ๐

thanks Firebred….lol
I have a cousin in the Sydney Area & I don’t know if it has been affected by the bush fires. I’d like to go there sometime but now is of course not the right time.
Praying๐ธ
According to the news yesterday over 2000 homes were destroyed, and over 500 million animals were killed by the fire. They deffinetly need prayers. I also heard it is raining in part of Australia.
They also need help with law enforcement, news out this morning is they’ve arrested 44 ppl for starting the fires with another 138 or so implicated. What’s wrong with folks?
I did find this…
noting that 183 people are facing legal penalties for various infractions. Forty-seven were accused of “discarding a lighted cigarette or match,” 53 for “failing to comply with a total fire ban,” and 24 with setting fires deliberately. The Sydney Morning Herald notes that, of those arson cases, “None of those fires are threatening the South Coast,” where the worst, headline-grabbing fires are. That would be zero.
It’s harder to find evidence once the worse happens with a fire and you fail to stop it quickly. It’s pretty likely they were started by humans too
I can only tell you what I read. As far as the evidence goes, there isn’t many.
I was wrong on my earlier post, the number arrested for intentionally starting fires was 24, not 44 as I posted earlier. You were correct on the 183, however the other people you mention were in fact, none of the original 24 arrested. I’ve provided the link below, its from ‘American Military News’.
https://americanmilitarynews.com/2020/01/24-charged-with-intentionally-starting-deadly-australian-fires/
Thanks. All I have is what I read about.
No worries, Jay…I prefer that website for news articles because there isn’t a political bias. They primarily take their news from the radio free press around the world and just report it. Everything you had was accurate, save the exceptionally sick individuals who set the country ablaze intentionally.
That whole thing is huge mess. The animals alone is enough to break a persons heart.
No doubt my friend, the cost in all of the fauna and flora of Australia and let alone the cost in human lives.
Hopefully, as it burns out, it becomes more predictable.
You are correct. Arsonists have not caused this crisis.
I was reading something else when this popped up. They were talking about the same thing.
It’s extremely frustrating to read fake news from people who wouldn’t have a clue.
We have a total fire ban across the country right now. Anyone lighting a fire, including in their own back yard fire pit, will be charged. 24 arson charges since the beginning of the fire season is not a lot of people in relative terms. Additionally, 24 people lighting fires is a drop in the ocean in comparison to what we are experiencing here atm.
People have no idea!
This is getting closer to politics then I like. I’m going to have to bail on this.
๐
I see it on the news channels and different websites.
I’m just now seeing it pop up in my news feeds. I figure that’s when I know it’s bad.
Itโs bad Jay! When wild animals seek help from humans I know the poor things have no where to run.
Did you see the go fund me I posted? That was for all those little buggers.
No I didnโt. I will look tho. Thank you Jay.
My pleasure Jae.

๐
I think thatโs just a calculated mention of past threats that got those infractions. Nothing to do with this fire. But I could be wrong.
I’m going to bail on this line of talking. We’re getting too close to politics.
Iโm behind you. Thanks for informing me Jay.
Yeah, it’s one of those.

No. 138 were not implicated. What’s wrong with folks who spread false news on the internet?
Itโs sad knowing there are so many misleading news and images on the net. It made me careful enough in choosing the source to read.
This afternoon, the Aussie media is blaming the misinformation on “internet trolls and bots”. Although, I am pretty sure that The Australian newspaper/Rupert Murdoch was first to publish that the bushfire crisis has been fueled by 200 arrested arsonists.
I think that people who have never been to this part of the world don’t really understand the Australian landscape and prevailing conditions.
We have bushfires every summer, hence the term “bushfire season”. However, this season is unprecedented. Massive regions of the country have been without rain for such a long period that the landscape is like a vast tinderbox.
And the misleading picture was first posted on Twitter. Luckily I have never tried to find news on social media like Twitter or Facebook. I would rather go to the news maker that I believe are reliable.
This link by BBC explained the misleading map and picture that went viral. https://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-51020564
I read https://www.news.com.au/technology/online/fake-and-misleading-images-of-australias-bushfire-crisis-are-being-circulated/news-story/ce1a7def75e87e5a0146116c6eb734f6. I believe it’s quite reliable.
But this only from January 8th, did surprise me. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nation/bushfires-firebugs-fuelling-crisis-asarson-arresttollhits183/news-story/52536dc9ca9bb87b7c76d36ed1acf53f
No internet troll here. Directly from the source, why keep denying what is clearly being reported in the worlds free press?
https://americanmilitarynews.com/2020/01/24-charged-with-intentionally-starting-deadly-australian-fires/
Yeah… I am sure that that obscure American media site is more accurate than the Australian Federal Police.
Agreed
I seriously doubt the number of animal deaths but yes its bad
Let’s hope there is some relief from these fires but it doesn’t help when people deliberately start them.

I’ve heard that rains are on the way…but how much and what type isn’t known…..I’ve also heard they’ve caught between 12-100 people setting fires….there is no spontaneous combustion, even in a drought….it all boils down to humans…. may relief be there soon to them….
6 million hectare bushfires.
Sound to be a huge area to tackle.
yes, it’s raining in some areas.
“May relief be there soon”. Amen
No. Australian police have contradicted those internet rumors. Contrary to what Donald Trump says, a great swag of Aussies have not suddenly become arsonists.
I hope you don’t get affected?
the count I got was 183….just now…and who’s to say they’re YOUR people….you have a great influx of many who aren’t….and what does Trump have to do with it….?….” NSW Police have taken legal action against 183 people so far this bushfire season, including charging 24 people with deliberately lighting bushfires.” “Among the 24 charged with the deliberate lighting of fires was 19-year-old RFS volunteer Blake William Banner, who was arrested in relation to seven different fires in the Bega Valley.”…..aaaand…..#ISIS terrorists are urging their followers to light devastating #ForestFires across America and Europe, as the terror group hopes to create ecological carnage in the wake of their leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s death last month.

You might need to check your sources…
What great influx of many who aren’t? Aren’t what, I ask?
Arson is not an uncommon cause of bushfire, however the current social media fuelled BS that is circulating online has been contradicted by Australian police. The current bushfire crisis has not been caused by arsonists.
you might want to stop listening to you BS media….those were actual arrests….
LMAO! Sure, I should listen to you and Murdoch media instead.
Bingo.
Safe?
Yep!
Good ..
i’ve been reading the reports and have not seen one comment from Trump about the fires. I might add that when i want news i don’t go to Trump’s twitter account and neither do many other people even conservatives. This is not a left right thing. Islamic nutters have called for ecoterrorism for years and there are several news items about people starting these fires on purpose, -these reports are from all news sources-breitbart, associated press and CNN and MSNBC-the latter 2 are hardly pro-Trump news agencies. I take the news with a grain of salt no matter who it comes from.
Then I suggest you read further… Or you can just be wrong.
Something tells me everyone who has different views and info than you is wrong. Thatโs ok. Stay in your bubble. At least Iโm reading more than one source and not just putting party before country.
This afternoon, Australian media are blaming the fake news on “internet trolls and bots”. I suppose that’s a step up from being wrong.
Aww sowing your seeds of compassion again I see. Have a nice day.
Better than stinking of the odour of disinformation…
No need to be bitter and snarky just cause someone disagrees with you. If you truly were just after facts youโd do a little more homework. Lighten up frances
LMAO!!!
The news wasn’t from President Trump, here is a copy of the article I mentioned above. https://americanmilitarynews.com/2020/01/24-charged-with-intentionally-starting-deadly-australian-fires/
