“Vikings is a historical drama television series created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel. Filmed in Ireland, it premiered on March 3, 2013, in Canada. In January 2019, it was announced that the upcoming 20-episode sixth season, which was ordered on September 12, 2017, ahead of its fifth-season premiere, would be the final season of the series. The sixth season is set to premiere on December 4, 2019.
Vikings is inspired by the sagas of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok, one of the best-known legendary Norse heroes and notorious as the scourge of England and France. The show portrays Ragnar as a farmer who rises to fame by successful raids into England, and eventually becomes a Scandinavian King, with the support of his family and fellow warriors. In the later seasons, the series follows the fortunes of his sons and their adventures in England, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.”

A fine fantasy and one I do wish was real. The women never owned a sword (most men didn’t either) or trained for battle, yet all carried a seax for protection and daily use.
dont forget,, they ALL carried a henway with them where ever they went..
Best moment of Ragnar-1

Tried to watch it for a couple of episodes, not my cup of tea
What is your cup of tea then, Mad Man or Breaking Bad? 🙂
I liked Breaking Bad, never liked Mad Man. Have been trying to watch it on Netflix
I haven’t watched Breaking Bad but I will as it looks good to me and those who have watched it said it’s good.
That was an amazing series. I highly recommend it.
Thanks, Bro.
That’s very tempted. I’ll watch it.
Have to finish the Outlander first as the DVDs have been ready.

Last one for now. Goodnight, Gent.
Sad moment for Ragnar sons.

Not at all, it’s simply that sometimes a song is reversed, didn’t want confusion.
Then there must be the upright one.

The show is so raw, you can smell the body odor just by watching.
Applause !! 👏
Sorry die hard fansters !
Haha….. it’s a brutal drama but some of us love it.
My biggest complaint about the show is the way it characterizes Pagan priests as crippled physically and emotionally.
If you are referring to “the seer”
I was surprised too that they made him look like that: eyes and upper ears black.
Looks scary to me.
Anything to tar the Pagan tradition and make Catholic monks look beneficent.
It could be from the story they found.
Unless you read the book like usual.
I have not read the book. Perhaps I should put it on my list.
Some parts in the movie are historically inaccurate, they admitted it.
It’ll be great if you read the book then share it to us….:))
Watched it all multiple times. I’ll watch the whole thing again when the last season is released. Love it. I love historical dramas, tho. Pesky Blinders is almost as good. I loved The Tudors too.
Hi there,
Welcome
I am glad to hear that as I watched all the episode too from season 1 to season 5B and now I am very enthusiastically waiting for season 6 that will return on December 4.
I love Tudor too, very much. That will come on the next movie topic.
I start at season one every time a new season comes out. I knit while I watch tv so I see new things every time, but I also forget some things from one season to the next. If you haven’t done Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul..they are good. True Detective is good. I’ve enjoyed Ozark and Godless. Ozark has a 3rd season coming, but Godless is just a miniseries. I also enjoyed Banshee. Preacher is a big favorite. I haven’t watched the newest season yet. I like to watch it with my son when he comes home. I have really enjoyed Mr Mercedes too. I’m a big fan of Brendan Gleeson.. one of my fav movies is In Bruge. I love Colin Farrell in quirky roles…let’s face it..the only reason we watch Daredevil is because Farrell is Bullseye…but he and Brendan in that movie was a great combination. I enjoyed Goliath on Prime which I didn’t think I would. I love Billy Bob Thornton, but I didn’t get into the first episode the first time. Picked it up again and loved it. Can you tell I’m a big cinema fan?
Mad Man Don Draper. A very good friend introduced Mad Man to me much earlier before. I liked it but I haven’t got chance to watch it all. I chose to watch the Suits with Harvey and Dona as the main characters in it.
I will look up Breaking Bad.
I watched some of the Banshee and Preacher but never finished.
You watched so many. You are a big cinema fan. But me too tho. I watched so many movies too.
I watch Outlander recently. And most of Downtown Abbey before.
I was fascinated with Mad Men…advertising runs in my family. My mom was a secretary for the biggest ad agency in Greenville before my dad opened his art gallery. My aunt..moms sister….owned her own ad agency in the 80’s, but sold it when she had her daughter. I have a degree in graphics and worked for ad agencies before I went into the family business and my son is somewhat of a prodigy in advertising.. he’s an artist and became a senior art director for a large ad agency in Chicago after only 2 1/2 years into his first job in advertising. So I felt right at home amongst the chaos. They played up the sex, but the drinking and drug use was pretty spot on. My mom remembers every exec having a bar in their office. My sons agency Mekanism has a real bar they salvaged from an old building in the lobby. But most of their clients are beer and alcohol companies.
I loved the first two seasons of Outlander. I haven’t done Downton Abbey yet. Everyone he says it’s great.
That is interesting story, from advertising to advertising.
If will have to watch Mad Man and will continue watching Outlander.
Downtown Abbey is great. I missed some episodes but will catch up soon.
Oh Billy Bob is ultimate ! U-Turn & Slingblade 👍
I must admit I have not seen The Vikings. I will make an effort to see it.But I am a keen student of Mythology, be it Norse, Roman , Greek or whatever. I have found the Norse Mythology particular interesting. I have even written an epic poem on it.
Ragnar Lothbrok, who claimed to be a direct ascendant of Odin, was probably named after Ragnarok, or The Doom of the Gods.
The Norse creation myth or cosmogony (a view on the origins of the cosmos) is perhaps one of the richest of such accounts in all of world literature. Not only is it an exceptionally colorful and entertaining story – it’s also bursting with subtle meanings.
Norse Genesis
The gaping void of perfect silence, chaotic and so black
where light has never touched the veils of everlasting dark,
there, Ginnungagap, laid motionless between the fire and ice.
A godforsaken desolated place, where only stillness hides.
Once designed to keep extremes apart, this fragile cold divide
in total perished when the heat and cold crossed the divide.
Muspelhein, the giants domain, where dwells the gods of fire
invaded the world of Neflheim where ice and frost was the norm.
The sweltering heat transformed all ice to hissing misty steam.
When water droplets searched to form the first hermaphrodite
Ymir, the first of the godlike giants eventually took on a form.
An agamic giant, and through his sweat the next of kin to born.
Then from the ebb of frost and ice, an ungulate emerged.
The cow, Audhumbla, with her ample milk, provided for the giant.
She in turn found nourishment by salt-licks in the ice,
and unveiled the gigantic Buri, the Adam of the Aesir’s kind.
Half god, half giant, the offspring of the Aesir’s ascendancy
Began to dominate with Odin, the self-proclaimed tyrant.
Creation of more universe can’t be ‘ex nihilo’, the firm belief,
and necessitates the destruction of that what was before.
To build the earth, and inhabit it, the giant, Ymir was slayed.
His blood would fill the oceans vast, the soil his skin afore,
the flora from his bushy hair, his brains the clouds up high.
And from his scull the clear blue sky, where the birds could soar
Four extremely powerful dwarves would hold the scull aloft.
With their colossal strength, support all four the corners of the sky.
Following the creation law of ‘all living feeds on death’,
to form the first of human kind, two trees was made to die.
In Midgard, in a garden dwell, Ask and Embla was placed
And for a meted time onwards protected from the giants
In dreams and ominous prophesies the cycle will repeat
In Ragnarok, or the doom of gods, destruction is foretold
A cataclysm on cosmic scale, and a universe destroyed
Round and round the cycles goes, the end the start, behold
Ginnungagap, will live again, a divide with endless still
Muspelhein, the fire gods, and Neflheim with bitter cold

Hi Palapie,
Morning 😉
That’s very interesting. So you think the Vikings are part of the Myth?
I read this link by BBC the other day and it’s said that Archaeology provides physical evidence of their conquests, settlement and daily life, Some story in the film are historically inaccurate but they convinced that the Vikings is based on real event.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/vikings/evidence_01.shtml
The language in your poem contain high words of art. Have you ever published your work somewhere ? I will make topic of your poems if you don’t mind? 😉
We had a poet Mod too before. He was Karan but I think both of you have different types of poem.
The Vikings were definitely part of the Norse Mythology as far as I am concern. There are just too many connections if you study the very interesting Norse Mythology. As you will see in my poem, there were even a garden created by their gods and the fist two people on earth by the names of Ask and Embla
were placed in the garden called Midgard.
https://www.ancient.eu/Norse_Mythology/
You may create a topic if you like. I know Karan. We have commented numerous times on each other’s work.
I simply watched the series.
But that Ask and Embla should be Adam and Eve in my religion. But the Midgard and other names are so much different.
I thought so, both of you must have been interacted each other. Probably from Poetry Park before. I consider Karan to be my younger brother on here. He is very sincere and kind person. He came back to post a poem for me before the free channels ended.
Thank you for the link. I’ll try to check that out when time permits. And I’ll make the time to post about your poem, not this one tho but the other one from other thread.
Thanks Palapie 😉
I think much of these stories originated somewhere and was spread by word of mouth to different cultures all over the world. It is interesting to note the striking parallels between some of these stories. Take for instance the Epic of Gilgamesh and Noah’s flood. You would think it is the same flood.
I love reading these stories but I believe in the Bible as God’s Word.
Cecille de Mille 10 Commandments (I live for come Passover/Easter). “As It Was Written”….
Hi Lily. I don’t quite understand your comment, but thank you never the less.
Are you French? You may write in French.
“Cecil B. DeMille” was an American film maker in the 1st half of the 20th Century
Wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_B._DeMille
Thank you for the explanation and the link. Now I understand the comment.
Have a splendid day.
Kewl! Thank you. Apologies for having jumped in on your conversation 🙂
No need to apologize. It is appreciated.
Much obliged ! Thank You !! 💐
Gosh , me was zonking out awhile ago. In lieu to your biblical post ; I love the original movie “the Ten Commandments” by Cecile de Mille . Rebroadcast’s every yr nite B4 Easter Sunday –hope this deciphers somewhat. Merci’!
It is quite clear now. Merci, mon ami
Me cannot get into the Cyclops , game of thrones, and all within ; yet good for those whom enjoy !! 🎃
Hi Lily,
Why can’t you?
I did enjoy both series from the very beginning till the end 😉😍
Never seen it. Sorry guys.
I know you watched the Blade of Fury or something 🥰
Who?
I just looked that up. LOL. It’s a Chinese high fantasy film from 1993. Interesting. I’ll have to check it out someday.
Not via TV of course …. (Bwhaha. Just jesting with you J ! ) 🙂
LOLOL! I like Chinese high fantasy, such as the Bride With White Hair.
I must do a read up ! What am I missing ? 😱
Cool story from the 90s.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106342/
Brigitte Lin (pretty pretty girl ) raised by Wolves and so forth . The Wolves entice me big time.
The only parts I can recall were characters running on the tops of trees and stuff. It was amazing.
It’s a love story. IDK about wolves. Did you watch the same trailer? Maybe there’s something you know about this film which I forgot?
No not trailer, I googled title . Said wolves were part of her upbringing ..
Oh, crud. I did, indeed, forget all about the wolves and did not read everything. Derp. I’m such a dummy.
No , no .. there’s a.part 2. Some other films w jet li.
I noticed a trailer for part two. I didn’t even know there is a part two. That’s great! I may have to refresh my memory by watching part one, then watch part two. 😀
And don’t forget the popcorn and good & plenty !!
OMG! You would be a great movie buddy. I really like popcorn with extra butter. Candy is also cool.
Well the TV was on the futz over the weekend. I watched a couple movies . The Girl Most likely to (stockard Channing 1979’s version. Joan Rivers actually wrote it!) .
Never seen that either. There are a great many films I have never watched but are recommended.
What did you think of the film Rivers wrote?
Dark twisted quirky humor. Stockard Channing (also known as Rizzo in Grease and Six Degrees of Separation w/will Smith ) she is Miriam Knight , not the most attractive college student whom “gets even” with the other students whom teased & did some nasty pranks (leaving her at the drive in & walk home in the rain was one of the scenes ) . One went too far and caused her an accident requiring full new beauty look. Heads turn and no one recognizes until she reveals her real identity & “too late ” for the perpetrator’s whom ridiculed her. All in good taste, not gor payback as in Carrie. It’s on YouTube. “The movie of the Week ” from the ’70’s. It played once on TV Sunday in the ’80’s . My boss (boystown) recorded on DVD , commercials and all. It was one of our cult classics we’d corny around about at the office. The Cheerleader roommate was to the “t” blonde & narcissistic beauty snub. Now, Rivers wrote the original , in which opened many doors for her ! What a Gal !
Hahahaha….funny. I found the listing, btw:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070112/
Oh , you know me , I’ll make a chapter out of 1 lil sentence.. are you going to watch it ?? OMG , what’s going thru your mind reading the scoop on it ?
I’m actually being pestered by a friend’s ongoing bad relationship soap opera at the moment. It’s difficult to process a whole lot more but the description you wrote is fascinating. I can imagine this being a fantasy for many girls who felt bullied by their peers, especially for their appearance. IDK if I will watch it, however.
I already have several hours of films I downloaded but also have yet to watch.
Ok !!! Thanks talk soon . Hope she’s ok !! Poor girly! Me sleepy anyways.
Hugzzz. I need to go to sleep too. I haz all day at medical campus tomorrow. See ya!
You must be doing teaching lecture. A study moderator. Or Patient counseling . Or working on your PhD. Hee.
Don’t I wish. I am the patient. D’oh!
Me go to the nap before I stay up too late and oversleep my appointment. Hugzzz!!
Sorry I didn’t mean to goof about. Hugzz !! Meww!
Never feel bad about making a funny. 😉
Tuesday evening- real quick; hope you’re doing well ! Will mess around later on channels , but right now I must tackle this room full of cashmere sweaters & clothing strewn all over , aside from a “wall washdown” B4 these bud lights get exhausted (haha) ! Had you in my thoughts. Ok, now for some “new edition” music ! Hugzz!
Hey, Lily! Hi!
I’m glad you are doing okay over there. The Bud Light won’t help you organize, but it will help you relax afterward. 😀
Things went about as well as can be expected. There’s no bad news or anything of the sort. It’s all good, thus far.
I’m going to pass out for a bit. So tired after switching from nights to days. Thanks so much for thinking of me!
See you after the nap. 😀
TTYL and hugzzz!
Okay if you say so. 😉 On a personal note, you can count on me for being supportive.
I had a necessary and nice nap but now I’m all discombobulated. Where am I?
LOLOL
Unlike me, you went back to sleepy😴!
Actually I did a good “tub” b4 I tackled my room. Very invigorative . Much accomplished aside from neighbor distractions. Oh geez. TTYL! Hugzz! ( Watching a Olivia de Havelland movie “light on the Piazza “-soo cute !)..
Have a great time this morning. You did, indeed, catch me going back to bed. Hugzzz!
My favorite retaliation is against the Jock (skydiving, hmmm) and the med student 💉 ouch !
This is the theme music “If I Had a Heart” by Fever Ray for the Canadian-Irish historical drama television series “Vikings” written and created by Michael Hirst for the television channel: History.
https://youtu.be/4bHkfZ58woA
Yes, I’ve heard that.
I found this song with Vikings clips.
I like it. The actual title of the song is Skin. He has big voice as big as his body. 😉
https://youtu.be/oMWP6c7L5Rc
Ahe is my favorite, sexy, strong, did I mention sexy? Peace
Those are true, don’t hesitate to mention them, it’s still within the policy lines.
I watched it and liked it. There is violence and explicit sex so depending upon which audience we are talking about, this is appropriate or not for some viewers
Saw an episode of this. Kinda cool, war in the old world. Burning oils, ships, boarding etc
However this female with a bow was able to hit another person repeatedly from an insane distance. Not because it was a gal, it was because the multiple shots at that distance on the water between two floating ships is not believable, I’m sorry. Not the sex, be clear here please.
Sex and war old world, real men and ??? Lol
Real men and real women 😀😀
Expanding on Viking inspired musics and Norse mythology…
Heilung – Krigsgaldr
https://youtu.be/QRg_8NNPTD8
[ A Danish experimental folk-metal, neofolk, multi-media project, led by percussionist Christopher Juul with German vocalist Kai Uwe Faust and Norwegian singer Maria Franz. Drawing on legend and folklore of the Viking era and Northern European Bronze Age, the trio produce works in a genre that they call amplified history. This track appears on their second studio album “Lifa” released 5 January 2018. However the video here, is taken from their live performance at Castlefest 2017. Available as a digital download from Bandcamp.com ]
Hi there ! I didn’t read and look thru your YouTube post; but “upvoted” you for your diligence.
Thanks for that! 🙂
Wow …. that is different.
Amplified History genre, should be the exact genre as it is categorized by the creator of the music itself.
I thought I have listened to all music but this is new for us.
Thanks for sharing 😍
No problem, Murn – happy to share! Amplified History?: that’s genre-creating kicked up to a whole new level – full immersion of the band into their performances… it would sure be impressive to catch Heilung live in concert! 😀
I thought New Age with Enigma by Michael Cretu was different.
That Heilung is more different.
Not from the television series Vikings at all, but still impressive…
Vǫluspá – Voluspá
https://youtu.be/qWpbHF4LNqg
[ A Norwegian folk band with viking influences. The title track from their debut EP “Voluspá” released 13 September 2013 ]
I like her music better than Heilung. Sounds more like Epic or Folk, I wonder what genre did she name her music?
The band has been described (on Spotify) as producing folk-rock music. The band is called
Vǫluspá. She is called Sól Geirsdóttir (an Icelandic surname) and is their co-founder, songwriter and vocalist.
Folk-rock, interesting. I like it.
I’ve been listening to some of Within Temptation, their genre is Symphonic Rock or some people in music industry name it Gothic Metal, but some of her songs are nice and unique.
I love the Vikings but I do miss Ragnar.
I was very sad watching him died eaten by snakes.
I didn’t think they ever found a body, so I thought maybe he would be back after one season.
That’s your expectation…:))
My expectation was that Odin would take him out of the cage while he was carried to the snakes pit. I was disappointed that no one saved him.
I liked the theme song.
Vikings theme song:
I like it too

Goodnight.
My favorite character:
https://youtu.be/-X2Lj4op9rs?list=WL
UMMMMMM to the sound of Homer Simpson…..
If you like to watch fantasy films about 10C feminists beating the hell out of the men, hookup culture, and being in open lesbian relationships, this is the series for you. This series is two hundred proof feminist agitprop that says more about why the West is dying than how it rose to power.
Good morning, Gentleman.
That’s not what we take from watching it.
It’s how they survive and developed themselves from zero to hero, although in the end they harvested failure to failure.
In that case, to clarify, I’m referring for starters to the “shield maidens” that routinely defeat and kill big men in hand-to-hand combat. The only analog I’m aware of in the West were mythical beings called the Amazons. From Wikipedia’s entry on these warrior women that never existed:
Yes, that seems different.
This Viking story is from 13th century, It’s mostly Scandinavian.
Of course there are some historical inaccuracy, but it was dark time so who knows what exactly happened.
Lagertha the second main character of the story or the wife of King Ragnar is also called A Shield Maiden and she does some negative things too, but there are many things we as women can learn from this character.
I agree with you. Having said that, it might be possible for women who have trained in combat since they were children–like Viking females—to kill foreign men who are wimps or vegan.
FYI,
Season-6.
will air on December 4, 2019.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1OC_C2Z6lI&list=PLVqlVK9qDX6QjJzZVhyVIbX5wQ1a1j3Lp&index=10&t=0s
Those shield maidens routinely fight big, burly Vikings in this series. It’s also worth adding that those swords and shields were so heavy that most men couldn’t use them, much less women.
p.s. Here is a replica of one of those swords for sale. It’s over three feet of carbon steel. The real item would have been made out of iron, which would have been even thicker and heavier:
https://battlingblades.com/products/viking-sword-ulfberht-sword-high-carbon-damascus-steel-sword-39-stiklestad?variant=12816885579810¤cy=USD&gclid=Cj0KCQjwi7DtBRCLARIsAGCJWBoDrfZfngIYeVuLsHIw8U1Yq90AqgO-byHoIhItp0oX8lorjbwCnvAaAuZ-EALw_wcB
I don’t think even Viking women would be able to fight other burly Viking men and live. We have a lot of TV and films that depict women kicking men’s asses effortlessly. It’s part of the lib narrative that men and women are the same, interchangeable and women can do anything a man can.
The swords are sized up to photograph well.
So what? The ad says they are 39″ long, making them over three feet.
Shield maidens, as depicted, never existed. Yet women were found dead on battlefields. After several losses, when defeat was assured, some women preferred fighting to the death rather than being raped and enslaved.
Indeed.

Viking Heroes
https://youtu.be/FGRriZtH0Zw?list=WL
They used to be a good football team?
Haha….how come?
Hahaha !! I wuz going to say… like da Bears !
They used to be good too.
McMahon , Payton ,and company ! It was a very exciting time being 20 something & watching nfl Sunday afternoons on Rush st. Chicago. .l
1985 Bears best team I ever saw
Kid you not Tim, I still get good goosebumps reminiscent of that season & Superbowl . Thank You for your feedback too !
Nah, our poor Bears are only good at defense this year.
Imo, Bears Mgmt should’ve made McMahon Lead offense Coach a long time ago . His determination & dynamics were so greatly reciprocated by his teammates. Mgmt was a different story.
They could go by the name of Stealers.
Lol
great show !
You watched it…..great
How do you like it so far?
I have watched them all ….
Its one of the best shows ever
Agreed.
We’ll have to talk again after watching season 6
I don’t watch a lot of regular TV, I mostly stick to Netflix shows. However, Vikings is one of my absolute favorite shows…that, Spartacus, Rome, Beeaking Bad, and earlier Seasons of Game of Thrones.
I agree with everything except game of thrones
I enjoyed the earlier Seasons of it but it’s definitely my least favorite out of the bunch haha.
GoT wasn’t that brutal like the other three…
And that’s another reason why I liked it less.😅
I knew that’s what you’d say 😀
Haha.
I love it when a show doesn’t hold back…especially if it’s a show about violence, sorrow, death, etc. I don’t care for PG-13 deaths😅. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE PG-13 movies and whatnot, but if the show/movie is based on violence, I’d prefer it to be on the level of Spartacus and Rome.
Luckily I don’t want to watch violence all the time. Gotta keep that balance going. I love me some Anime, 3D Animated films, and high quality Comedy films and or funny YouTube complications of humans fails and or funny Animals.
Back to my emo self…stalker, scorned, obsession, snapped, deadly women, aka Investigation Discovery type of shows are shows I use to faithfully watch. I even like those traits in movies…especially obsession. I low key want a crazy female.😅…shhh😷
Because that’s what draining the emotion. Without giving the up and down emotion, a show will be plain. But honestly to say that Spartacus was too much bloodshed. Vikings and Rome were not that much. 😉
Am I backward enough for not watching PG-13? 😅
Yes, we have to watch those variety, otherwise we may be carried out to the violence and bloodshed mind.
But Anime is a big NO to me.
That shows that you are normal beyond naughty 😀
Haha, I sometimes like melodrama if it’s good. Most of all I prefer a good narrative. A film/show JUST about violence with no story or substance is a no go for me. Character development and character emotion is highly important.
And yeah, an individual should never let a violent show, movie, or someone else’s actions alter their minds. If someone is watching violence and they start to think of only violent things, they should stop watching violent stuff and seek help before it’s too late.😯
On a more positive note, I also like Disney films…especially the old school Cartoon films that Hollywood is now making into Live Action films for that cash grab.😂💶💸
I still watched cartoon recently too…..it doesn’t mean we don’t grow up tho….=DD
I like many Disney films too. They are easy films, bring more happiness and still give us some emotions but not that draining.
Yes, Hollywood doesn’t make many new movies, they are only remaking the old movies, wrap them in new beautiful pies…:))
100% facts Madam Murn!
Hahahah….I never watched Game of Thrones either.
You missed the GoT?
on purpose
I enjoyed some of the Spartacus and Rome and watched the entire Game of Thrones.
I miss the Breaking Bad.
I also rarely watch TV. Just sports, cooking, science, and documentaries. But I did like Rome, MASH, Taxi, Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, and, my favorite, Frasier.
I LOVE Documentaries, especially Animal Wildlife but nowadays it’s all about Reality Shows😝.
I enjoy cooking so I’d watch a few cooking vids here and there to add some different styles to my meals. Overall, you got solid list of choices.
I also dig documentaries. Nature programming is cool. Gonna finish watching The Swamp by PBS soon. It’s on Amazon Prime.
Edit: Despite having won awards, I found The Swamp quite boring.
Ghost Asylum is good. WYFY loke the boys, ghost adventurers, and Ghost Nation is good also.
Never heard of it. I may have to check it out. Thanks.
On sling tv, asylum are some good ole boys, always pray before adventure and hardly curse.
I like the rerun channels (me TV , etc ) especially Norman Lear (Archie) repeats.
I know little about actual Vikings, but comic book and fantasy Vikings are awesome .
So do I, I didn’t even read the comic books but watching the whole series from season 1 to 5 so far, have given knowledge about Vikings.

Do you know who they are? …:))

Nope, I’m sadly lacking in Viking knowledge!
But thank you for participating….
So this is Lagertha…:))

I love Lagertha. I was so disappointed when Ragner chose the supermodel over her.
Yes, I was hurt when she left Kattegat with Bjorn.
She lost everything. But soon she shined again.
Sexy and Brutal, loved how she became ruler.
And a smart shield maiden..:)
Yep, she is bad azz, and sexy. When they offered to have sex with the slave preist. They sure condensed the years of history. Loves the first 4 seasons, but they took to ling to finish the 4th, i got bored.
one of his few bad decisions was not choosing Lagertha.
Me 3 !
Me 2 isn’t enough 😅
Odin and?
I think it should be Ragnar and Floki or Ragnar and Rollo. Don’t you think?
My ex-Wives coming for their weekly child support.
🤑 surrender AAARRRGH !!
I’m workin’ on my latest future ex-Mrs. AAARRRGH.

You’re such a stich !
I’ll take that as a compliment. 😉
Only give them what you can.
They let me keep the bandanna and tattoo (so far). 😉

Sizzle Sizzle .. dang.
I wish! 😉
LOL….that’s better than nothing at all…=D
I still have my dignity. 😉
They look like they are ready for a trip to Valhalla.
Viking culture was actually quite progressive for the times….closer to modern culture….they where the first to establish that a woman could inherit lands from the family…as long as she was first born….the first born in the family inherits whether male or female…divorce was also different, either partner could divorce the other if not happy…or at least satisfied with the union….but having different step children did breed contention in families…if the first born of the first union dies, then the first born of the second union inherits….you can see where this would go….women used weapons because while their men where gone at sea they were both mother and protector….they could be formidable enemies…
That’s true, there was already emancipation of women there. And women could also be family leaders or government leaders as long as they had the capability for it.
Merit matters
Very true.
It’s up to now
Ah yes, strong and aggressive, my WYFY calls that Wolverette.
The Normans, who founded late medieval England, were Romanized vikings. There is a direct descent to the Anglo-American empire of today.
Favorite moment-1
https://youtu.be/TcD0v87G58w
now they put the rings in their nose…xD
Haha….. how Lagertha acts in that scene….I like that.
Ragnar came back soon after that, he got injured then combated the Earl, he won and he became the Earl of Kattegat. Combating honorably. His beginning of success.
I feel the pushed the series to fast. And Ragnar became overly obsessed. I did like Loki.
Floki was a loyal friend for Ragnar, that’s what I like.
Ragnar should not die that early, I wanted him to live longer…:))
not to correct, floki, boat builder, loki. Man who came to visit. Had hurt hands. If im not mistaken. Floki was punished by Ragnar, that was hard to witness.
Yes, that’s it, Floki. He was punished but Ragnar then forgave him for the sake of his wife and daughter.
Yes, and built even better boats.
Best boat and beautiful island.

Link the Wanderer, I infer he’s Loki. Peace
I edited my comment because I kept writing Loki. It’s Floki with F 😀
Okay, so, now i look foolish. Sarcasm. Please correct me as needed. May you have a great evening. PEACE
Actually I saw you corrected it too, we both were silly with typing name 😉
You too. Talk to you soon.
LOL…When I see people with a ring in their septum, I want to pull them around by it as if they are a bull working farmland.

They have the coolest haircuts in that show.
True, the women too have the coolest braided hair.
Beautiful Gif,
Thank you Dear George.

Yeah, It’s great
“Do you like movies about gladiators?” — Clarence Oeuvre
If you mean the Gladiators where Russel Crow is the main actor? Yes I do.
I watched it, not once but for couple of times.
Will post about it on next movie topic.
As in custom on our Sunday with SUNDAE …

Mmmmmm yummm!
Thanks for sharing ! Great nightcap !! Yummmm !
Thanks, Lily! 🙂
it is a good series if you like violence. who should invite hskol, who changed his name to floki [one of the charaters].
It’s a brutal drama but I was challenged to watch it and after watched 1-2 episodes, I was addicted and kept watching the entire episodes from all seasons….=D
I’ll include him on next invites. It’s okay with this thread, it’s almost one week now and there are enough comments already.
i lost track when they were invading paris. missed a season or half and never got back into it. saw a couple of episodes out of order and it ruined it for me. not sure where the asian slave came from and when ragnar started on the mushrooms, or whatever the hallucinogens were? then the brothers showed up and i didn’t know who they were.
but if i ever have the time and ability i would watch it start to finish.
oh yeah, i saw the one were they went down to moracco or were they still in spain? and the muslims kept praying as they were raiding. that is when floki went to iceland, right? or rather shortly after that.
That France invasion was the failure and the end of Ragnar’s conquests. It was very sad episode. But his brother Rollo, met the Princes of France she was Gisla and married her so he was the Viking who became the first Duke of Normandy. Then the history continue as he had son William Longsword and his grand son Richard I, then great grandson Richard II. Wiki tells all too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rollo
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9e55df98095c9a2030bc83ba3c31100fa108e5f6fa85ffcf8fb9be23f290369a.jpg

Floki only went to Iceland after the war against King Aella. With all Ragnar’s sons, they took revenge for the murdered of Ragnar by King Aella.
See this video. Vikings’ Blood Eagle execution is scary.
https://youtu.be/IAiwQJDC68E?list=WL
thanks, yeah i saw the english king kill ragnoar and rollo in paris. i’ll checkout the wiki link, i didn’t think that was historically accurate? i just misssed too much inbetween ragnor disappearing and then the second paris invasion, did he hide in a coffen? i’m sure the history channel will run the series again. too much money in the production not to rerun it. hopefully it iwll be on demand and i can binge what i missed.
i was going to do a post on this article, but gave up figuring out how:
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-49944885
That is a good topic.
Poor them.
It’s actually easy…:))
You click My Neutral Channel https://myneutralchannel.com/, then click Start A Discussion then submit after finish typing.
The difference from Disqus is that your discussion won’t get posted even after you submit it, Mods who has the account on the site need to publish it then make a comment, then the discussion get posted and show up on the Disqus homepage. Also there is no longer invite button, so tagging is the way we send the invites.
Do you like to try it? I’ll publish it.
Not a lot.
Nothing about the movie, except what I’ve read here.
I do know that apparently the vikings didn’t have horns on their helmets – that’s something that’s been made up.
I know, I watched all the entire series from Season 1 to season 5B all episodes, none wore helmet with horn. Those who posted pics with horn seemed to be different story from the comic book.
Thanks, Andrew.
Later…:)
Seems like the creators did their research.
Hi Murn,
I’m not leaving Disqus, but will be less active at least for a while. Disqus killing off the channels has made it less appealing, giving me a chance to get more done in the real world instead.
It’s a historical drama, they would not carelessly write script without doing research although some parts are difference or inaccurate.
It’s good to see you.
Your Mod seat is ready, let me know anytime you’d want to stay and I’ll easily put you back there.
It’s a bit more works with having two different sites but so far has been okay.
