Being disabled doesn’t limit someone as capable doing things as the normal people can do.
Andrea Bocelli is an Italian opera singer, songwriter, and record producer, the idol to many people in the world.
Following a football accident, Bocelli was diagnosed with Traumatic glaucoma, becoming completely blind at age 12. Since 1982, Bocelli has recorded 15 solo studio albums of both pop and classical music, three greatest hits albums, and nine complete operas, selling over 90 million records worldwide. He has had success as a crossover performer, bringing classical music to the top of international pop charts.

This blind singer-songwriter was posted early on in this thread, and here is another song from him…
José Feliciano – Rain

And that is a beautiful song.
Thank you for posting.

My wife and I have been very lucky to see Andrea Bocelli in concert, one of them was a private concert to raise money for his foundation. About 100 people attended.
that’s awesome. He put on a wonderful performance and had many other very talented singers accompany him as well as sing on their own. I had tickets to see him at Christmas a couple years ago in Detroit and was going to take a friend who adored him but had never seen him live. Unfortunately, the friend got very ill last moment and never got to see him. Some day i will go and see him again. Too many good ones are leaving us so I’m trying to see as many as i can and there is nothing like live music.
btw…. not stalking you but i noticed you told James you and your wife are going to Chile. I went last March and i am going again at the end of this month. What an incredible experience going to Chile was. I am looking forward to being there as it is summer right now and i am already sick of our winter here. Safe travels and i know your trip will be fantastic.
We are looking forward to our first time in Chile. On a cruise last year we met a husband and wife from Valvida. Her father was a German government official stationed there but his family was in Germany. I recall The German government didn’t allow him to take his family to Chile. After Kristallnacht he went back to Germany gathered them up and took them to Valvida. They are Jewish, so there was some intrigue getting them out. Inga met husband in Chile, he was born in Chile. Both are in their mid late 80’s. Really nice people.
How fortunate of you and your wife to have the chance to see him in concert.
I have only been admiring him but haven’t got the same chance. I hope one day it’ll be my turn to see him in his concert.
Thank you for sharing your happy story..:))
His song I listen to the most lately.

Feel free to use your excuse on here..:))
Indeed, it is a masterpiece.
the song is a masterpiece and sung by them, what’s an honour.
Great great voice. I really love it.
To see the mutual admiration in both of these men’s eyes is moving. From such different worlds seemingly but united by love of music and the unique gift that each was blessed with.
There is a quote saying that Music is A Bridge Between Two Hearts.
Now we must say that Music is A Bridge Between MANY Hearts….it’s universal and don’t discriminate…:))
Bryan adams is a favorite of mine too. 😻
I’ve been fan for Bryan Adams since high school too.
And now I have the playlist of just his songs.
Great to be in the same BA fan club..:)
One of my favourite after ‘Heaven”
I hope it plays there.

Hello Murn, Shadow Walker was wondering why she keeps getting a message saying she’s banned here.
Hi Steven,
Thank you for addressing this to me.
This was the only message I’ve posted to her about the temporary banning and following is the link to the thread where she deleted 37 of her comments on just this thread.

Thank you, Steven.

Oh. Glad I read this…I had no idea (it’s bad for channels). Please accept my apology, for deleting one comment here, last fall. I was afraid my post had offended/upset the recipient. Oops.
Until last August, I had never deleted a comment. But suddenly, many of my comments were disappearing- weeks prior to the channel deletion. I could only access ~20 days worth of my history…and even some within that time frame had *poof* disappeared. It was so strange…and in my misguided efforts to access my history, I deleted a few posts with videos, thinking it might help. Of course it did not.
But…I thought they would all likely be deleted anyway, with the closure- so what difference did it make?
Anyway…now I know. Thanks, and I am sorry.
Hey,
Please don’t be sorry and not to worry about deleting one or two comments on here. That rule meant to address the deleted tens of comments as it reduces the performance score of the site. And besides, it makes the thread doesn’t look nice which we don’t really like to see.
I will revise the rule a little about comment deletion that it is more aimed at deleting more than 2 comments on a thread.
Actually I had deleted comments on the old Disqus Channels too and thought exactly the same as you that they would be gone along with the channel so no need to worry anymore…:))
See you are a humble person.
Talk to you soon and thank you soooo much..*Big Smile
During my last year of school I was told about a famous pianist with only one hand, which you’d think might be quite the disadvantage for a pianist, but I saw videos and he was amazing.

Amazing.

As a child, Joni Mitchell contracted polio which left her left arm and hand with severe handicaps. With a strong love for singing and a desire to play guitar, she learned to utilize open chords. She became golden throughout the 70s.

Hey,
That is a great finding. I love that song very much.
It’s phenomenal:
“Time to Say Goodbye”, paired Bocelli with British soprano Sarah Brightman, and achieved even greater success, topping charts all across Europe, including Germany, where it became the biggest-selling single in history.”
Thank you for the efforts. It’s very much appreciated… *Smile

Hi Steven,
Good evening to you…:))
No he didn’t. A lot of people don’t appreciate blue grass music but I like it once in a while for something different.
His music is a bit country too.
And I love that song you posted and the next songs after that one.

Rick Allen of Def Leppard
On his way to a New Year’s Eve party in 1984, drummer Rick Allen got into a race with another driver. It ended with Allen losing control of the wheel, being thrown from the car, and having his left arm severed. Doctors tried to reattach the arm but couldn’t. A depressed Allen thought his career was over. But with the encouragement of his Def Leppard band mates, and a retooled drum kit, he retaught himself to play, using foot pedals to fill out his percussive attack. His first album back in the band, Hysteria, sold 20 million copies. Allen, nicknamed “Thunder God” by fans, is still touring with Leppard.

Lester Willia Polsfuss, AKA Les Paul, was not only an amazing jazz guitarist and the guy that gave the iconic Gibson Les Paul its name – he was also a great luthier and inventor. He collaborated with Gibson in the creation of the electric guitar, and was a pioneer in using techniques like delay, double tracking and phasing in his own recordings. In 1948, Lester had an almost fatal car accident which affected his right arm and completely shattered his elbow. Reconstruction was impossible, and he would lose movement of his arm forever. In one of the most rockstar moments in history, Les Paul asked the doctors to put his right arm in a fixed angled position, so he could keep playing his guitar. It took almost a year of recovery, but he continued to play, for more than SIXTY years, until his death in 2009. That’s punk rock!
Awesome…

Good Morning Murn! Sunday is my favorite day of the week. I do find it peaceful and serene, resting from daily chores and obligations. I attend Mass then listen to music and have an open door policy for family to drop in for a visit.
My traditional Italian grandmothers always prepared a pot of sauce filled with assorted meats like sausage, often homemade, pork and beef braciola, and meatballs. The tradition skipped my mother’s generation but mine revived it.
When I was a child living in the south my family would visit our grandparents in New York City and we would enjoy a Sunday feast accompanied by opera. The smells, the taste, the sounds of Sunday are etched in my memory. Andrea Bocelli is a contemporary link to my childhood heritage.
I’ve often wondered if blindness actually enhances musical talent. Not only Andrea Bocelli but Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Jose Feliciano produced iconic music that touched so many lives, yet they could not see beauty but heard it and created it in their music.
Good morning, Lorraine,
That is a lovely story like always and thank you for sharing it with us on here.
I would always enjoy Italian foods too.
I have Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Beethoven on this thread too.
And some friends added others.
.
That is a very good point and I will look up if blindness enhances music talent.
Thank you for adding Jose Feliciano.
This is so sweet song from him.

Thank you! Let’s not forget the great Roy Orbison. His legendary solo career and also as a member of the Traveling Wilburys, along with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, who I had the pleasure to hear at Dylan’s Thirtieth Anniversary Concert in Madison Square Garden.
The artists themselves that we are focusing on didn’t think of themselves as handicapped. They were creative geniuses who also applied their genius to adapt and live their lives to the fullest extent.
Yes, I remember my father played this song when I was little.
Sweet voice and song.

that feels nice that Bocelli has really thrived as a musician that reall shows that he is determined to not let his disabilities let him not make any achievements . i too am disabled i dont use my disabilities as an excuse to sit around all day

It is pity that many great singers like her are underrated.
And she has both pretty face and beautiful voice.
Her paternal grandparents were Black Sea Germans. They were deported to Siberia in 1941.

They both have/had rock star qualities (charisma) and both have a very difficult family history/destiny.
Awww, as if life isn’t bad enough.😞
Indeed.
Alexander moved them there, the Bolsheviks starved them, finally Stalin exiled survivors to exist with the Tartars and Chukchi. It was a terrible thing and came to haunt Alexander as the years wore on.
